Advance/Defend stance

Post by Silvarius »

Hello,

I'm trying to play with "command & control" on and as far as I've tested it, I've found the system of objectives very interesting, but I haven't found yet the usefulness of the "Advance/Defend" stances.

When in a "defend" or "delay" battle, all your troops are in a default defend stance. What is the advantage of this stance ? I only experienced problems as these troops are then very difficult to move. I would have thought that a group that is outnumbered 1 to 10 and on the verge of being wiped out would eagerly obey a "fall back" order ! but no, they prefer dying on the spot rather than heeding an order that would have save their life ! Brave ... and stupid men Image!

So, I suspect there MUST be an advantage to choose the defend stance, but this is still to be found ! For the moment, I systematically put all my units in an advance stance in the deployment phase.

Silvarius.

I am not sure since I seldom play in "C&C"-mode but doesn't defend allow your troops to dig in? (Getting "In Cover")? I don't think that happens if your in Advance-mode, but I may be wrong there....

Units in defend stance will "find cover" wheras advancing units won't. Once "in cover" they get a bonus to their chance to opfire and to get extra opfire shots.

Tanks "in cover" are considered hull down to the front arc.

With C2 off units always try to gt "in cover" if they do not move, since there is no difference between stances.

If we are not using Command Control, are you saying that "it makes no difference whether a unit is in Advance or Defend mode"? If there is a difference, what is it when not using Command Control?

There is no difference if you have C&C OFF.
