Ships/Bases as presents

Post by Blueberry »

Guys,

Just wanted to post about the option of giving/presenting ships and bases to other empires. Haven't utilised that option in my games yet. I am sure it can be quite useful to offset the balance of power in the game. To assist a weaker ally win a conflict/war against a much stronger opponent without getting yourself directly involved. One may end up facing his/her own ships at some point though. How cool is that I ask ya... [:)] Wouldn't mind an option to sell ships/bases either.

Anyways, has anyone been using this particular option in the game? What was it like then.... Personally, the option of presenting powerful ships and bases to the AI is indeed quite intriguing. That is, of course, if used appropriately...

I wonder if you can bankrupt and AI by handing them a whole lot of ships (maintenance)...

And if you can make bad blood between somewhat good friends by gifting a contested mine to the "right" part. Sometimes you find and take control of contested bases, that gives interesting opportunities

How much of a diplomatic bonus does giving away ships give you? It seems like the game should show a popup or message explaining how much it helped your relationship with the other power.
