So I manage to get a Gerax drive and enter the verse and this is what I find [:D] Marvelous. Now do I change tech direction and nuke the seals to the SE or play patch my starships with the pirates due to there Railguns and my cling film shields and armor ... hmmm choices [:'(]

And it just keeps getting better ... [:D] Forgot to mention the other empires all have a three level head start and they really do not like my race ...

So explore and expand NE I thought was a good idea as there were quite powerful pirates in the other direction ...

After some major battles the seals went down, they were viewed as the easiest targets after scouting there systems. Using the captured ships I managed to get a bit further up the tech tree and have now pushed west using my attack force to clear the area of pirates.

Looks like you have gotten to a good start. A centralised location and an easy second homeworld; now you would almost have as much economy as the Securans. What race did you select? Perhaps this is more likely to occur with a lesser star density as you have chosen.

Also welcome to half my games set to random distances. The other half is the same, only that I start in a corner.

Its a custom race / theme. I set up the biases file so that all the other races dislike mine, the scores range from 0 to -25, it is very hard to get anyone on side and setting chaos as a starting aggression along with the other races a few tech levels above me in a prewarp game makes things just a little more interesting. The pirates I am none to sure about, they just seem to home in me with the biases file set up like that, so from game start it is difficult. Only on normal difficulty though, would put it higher but I am an old GCII player, prefer difficulty meaning an increase in the AI's routines not a decrease of the players abilities, all that does is make the start very hard and frustrating for me and the rest of the game cruising to eliminate the other empires from mid game onwards, this way it has a kind of even difficulty all through the game.

In fact, I'm sending you a crate of Romulan Ale from my hidden stash to make your feel better. Don't tell Data. [;)]

Your not wrong there [:D] I was trying to set things up as difficult and it worked rather to well!

Current state of play is very tight, I think I am just in front on tech with the amount of pirate ships I have reverse engineered, now building my usual 10 ship attack and 5 ship invade fleets, what I need though is a few good advances on AOE weapons to fit to the mines, those really do make a lot of difference, the cost is high especially when you add the gravtic ones that slow ships down but worth it for the hassle of replacing them and the loss of resources, still working on a final decision on the overall design but the current one is able to take out small fleets of cruisers, anything below that class in amounts below 10 get wiped out pretty much instantly with the other weapons fitted as well. Cost a fortune and a few bases but I have managed to get the Securan on side with a mutual defense pact, although a small empire they are pretty powerful so that will come in useful at the right time.

Thanks for the ale
