Counter Icons

Germany At War: Operation Barbarossa 1941 is an elegant turn-based design, inspired by classics such as Panzer General, but with more of a historical focus. You command the German forces through a branching historical campaign covering the entire 1941 campaign as well as part of the 1942 campaign. Dozens of scenarios stretch from the Soviet border all the way to Archangel and towards Astrakhan, the original military goals of Operation Barbarossa. Step into a wargame where your performance will rewrite history, through an addictive combination of compelling gameplay, realistic events and challenging battles.

Counter Icons

The ad pictures are confusing. Will the game have standard military NATO icons or toy soldiers and tanks...or the option for either? I have found that I dislike toy soldiers and will not play games like Panzer General, whatever its other merits. Standard military icons or nothing for me, unless it is a ground level tactical game like Combat Mission.

Hello,

this was answered in another thread, but this one has the right title so i paste a variation of that answer:

You can choose between 3D units or 2D counters. 2D counters replace the 3D units on the map completely in any view if the player chooses them.

You decide the view of the camera - you can play zoomed out like in the Moscow screenshot or close in like in the others.
You select the views either by mousewheel or F1-F5 keys for fast access.

Anyway if you play with 3D units and you completly zoom out they will change to 2D Counters at a certain point as its not possible to recordnize them that far out.

For the record I agree with solops I won't play Panzer Corps either for that reason I hate non scale toy soldiers. The only game I've played where it works is the campaign series and that's because it looks like it's more to scale relative to other units.

well, we love them both and which we use depends mostly on mood, but also on scenarios and difficulty settings.
Thats one of the reasons we offer both options for the player.
