Thanks for the replies. I am in a game as the soviets right now and trying to figure out how many tank corps I can manage. I'm roughly in the same ballpark you are in so I guess I'm fine.
By the way there is a set of counters out to go with the map, done by the same guy. Just check out the thread where he posted his map.

WEEKS 37 to 46 - February 26 to April 30, 1942

The Spring rains kept the front relatively stable. A total of 22 tank corps were formed and most are training in the Moscow area. An additional 24 motorized rifle brigades were also formed. The Red Army now has approximately 7 million men under arms, supported by 84,000 artillery and 6,100 tanks. Manpower and arms reserves are 347,000 and 482,000 respectively.

Air reconnaissance shows Axis mobile formations in the Kiev-Cherkassy sector. That is expected to be the main area of enemy activity in the coming weeks.

How's the truck pool? Those motorised units do suck them in.

124k trucks are in the pool, 123k required and the weather is mud in all zones. I do need to disband some excess tank brigades among the 42 I have, as 22 of the planned 24 tank corps are in place now.

WEEK 47 - May 7, 1942

Mehring is starting his summer offensive a few weeks early. His mobile troops are split into 4 groups. somewhat similar to how he operated in '41.

Near Vitebsk and Orsha, the panzer and motorized units are still essentially PG4 augmented with 4 motorized divisions.

A small dent is made in the lines but there is nothing to indicate that he will be able to make any real gains with the troops Mehring has allocated here.

In the Donets region, three panzer and five motorized divisions, including SS Divisions Wiking and LAH, are pushing in a northeasterly direction. This move at least seems to take the Axis push away from Kharkov.

Here is the main Axis effort. Effectively two PanzerGruppe with ten panzer divisions drive northeast. They manage to pocket over 50,000 men in 6 divisions of Pavel Rybalko's 54th and Nikolai Gusev's 59th Armies.

It appears to me you may strike supply issues late 42, depends on the operational tempo. As you have lost a little too much Heavy IND. But this will only be a temporary problem if at all. The multiplier goes up again in 1943.

I pity your poor German foe [:D]

Mehring has asked for an extended break that will probably last a couple months. Since I'm starting a new game with smokindave34, I agreed to put this one on ice.

Thanks for following the AAR here and we will resume at a time TBD.

This game resumed about two weeks ago. My challenge now is to try and keep up with two games as both Mehring and smokindave34 are returning turns quickly. So much to do, so little time...

Week 53 - June 18, 1942

Mud in the center zone. Strong enemy forces advanced to the Don this week. Our forces to the south hold Rostov. Kharkov also remains in Soviet hands to the west.

At Khimki near Moscow, General Mayor Ivan Chernyakhovsky's 58th Army of 12 motorized brigades is formed. Support units include 4 sapper and 2 corps artillery regiments. The army is set in position near Moscow to undergo training. 58th Army is assigned to General Armii Ivan Tyulenev's Moscow Military District.
