Cataclysm on homeworld... can I recover?

Post by LizardSF »

So, generally n00b here... was slowly building up a fairly decent little Empire when there was a "massive quake" on my homeworld, which knocked the quality down to 65%. This placed me tremendously in the red, as virtually all my empire's income was from the homeworld. (I had about a dozen colonies, but they were still small potatoes compared to the capital.). Is this something I can recover from, or should I start over? I could reduce maintenance by destroying almost every ship, base, etc, but that has its own problems...

Teraform facility you need to research and build, that raise the quality to the old value.

You will recover even without terraforming facility but it will take longer.

I'm ~60,000 in the red, and getting redder... is it even possible to build a terraforming facility with no money? Obviously, there's a lot I don't understand yet, mechanically.

It will take a long time, but you can recover. Having Ocean or Desert colonization researched will help, since you can build a terraformer once one of those is finished.

And you can "prostitute" yourself to other space empires.

Maybe someone will pay you to initiate trade sanctions on another empire.

Heh, that's just politics...it's the worlds 2nd oldest profession and bears a striking resemblance to the worlds 1st oldest profession. [;)]

Actually, both the professions mentioned are exactly the same. The real puzzle is figuring out which is more fun. jk
