RE: The Good The Bad & The Indifferent
I can't believe nothing happened this turn - that the Allied carriers weren't detected and that havoc didn't ensue. But I am 99% sure that trip wires and trip flares are going to go off tomorrow, with detection levels and klongongs sounding and all heck breaking loose. "Battle Stations! Battle Stations!"
As for enemy preparation, recon reports the following concentrations of aircraft (these are the only bases I have current detection on, so there are probably more aircraft close by): Port Moresby (95/50/22); Lae (54/70/124); Milne Bay (38/13/2); and Tagula Island (27/25/0). I know Horn Island hosts alot of aircraft too (John has been basing 100 fighters there in recent weeks). So he's loaded for bear.

As a tip of the cap to our universally liked comrade, the Allied move is hereby dubbed Operation Des Wallace.
P.S. Replacing the more titillating Operation Robinia Pseudoacacia title I had been using privately.

You know, I think this will be a fitting tribute given its forthcoming success.
It was very, very saddening to hear. Divepac was exceedingly nice.

Well, that's that settled then.

Email from John: "Running turn."
Depending on complexity of the turn, I could have it back from him anywhere from 45 minutes to two hours. Finally, things are going to happen.

According to the other AAR, they did.

As best I can tell, John's last post was BEFORE he ran the turn, so I don't think there's any indications yet that anything did or didn't happen.

RE: The Good The Bad & The Indifferent
Why I'm revealing this now:
Morning Air attack on TF, near Sabang at 44,70
Weather in hex: Heavy cloud
Raid spotted at 20 NM, estimated altitude 8,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 13 minutes
Allied aircraft
Swordfish I x 12
SBD-3 Dauntless x 11
No Allied losses
Japanese Ships
xAK Tokati Maru, Bomb hits 3, heavy fires, heavy damage
xAK Yamadori Maru
xAK Tenzan Maru, Bomb hits 2, heavy fires, heavy damage
xAK Teimei Maru, Bomb hits 2, heavy fires, heavy damage
xAK Taian Maru, Bomb hits 3, heavy fires, heavy damage
xAK Seia Maru, Bomb hits 3, heavy fires, heavy damage
Aircraft Attacking:
12 x Swordfish I bombing from 5000 feet *
Naval Attack: 1 x 500 lb SAP Bomb
7 x SBD-3 Dauntless releasing from 4000'
Naval Attack: 1 x 1000 lb SAP Bomb
4 x SBD-3 Dauntless releasing from 3000'
Naval Attack: 1 x 1000 lb SAP Bomb
Massive explosion on xAK Taian Maru
Heavy smoke from fires obscuring xAK Taian Maru
Heavy smoke from fires obscuring xAK Seia Maru
With this result, the real campaign should open and John is at least somewhat apprised that something is up somewhere he wasn't looking. Somehow, the Allies armada has slipped right up to his underbedlly without (as best I can tell) the slightest detection until the launching of this attack.

Shazam! The veil is lifted. Gotta admit I didn't see it coming, but probably should have expected something like this. Nicely done, CR.
