Look at the thing. The funicular line stops right at the hexside border. Imagine you start in Buyabong. You walk the approximate 20 miles to the hexside..you step over the hexside and there is a funicular with nice cushioned seats and a lovely view as you head back down the hill to Lingayen. Ah so. I think I get your question. Here's my interpretation.

Lingayen to Buyabong (dot hex with three Jap units in it): "Rail walking" movement speed for troops taking this route. They will complete the movement not at rail speeds, but as though they were walking on an improved rail bedding / along a track hewn through the jungle. They will use these speeds (faster than jungle walking) until they manifest suddenly in Buyabong.

Buyabong to Lingayen (direct): 46 miles of jungle slog. No road benefits. No way. No how.

You know Capt'n, that little program you told me about, Gimp 2 ? Well I'd like you to know I'm still *&^%*#@ with it.[:D] It has completely mastered me. I poured a Loose Cannon, got a frozen Crystal Skull out of the O club fridge,to get a jump start, and that little beast of a program had me up half the night. Had to do something waiting for Dan and Johns private rumble to begin, I commenced trying to layer photographs. Started with some AE stuff and wound up trying to stick a pair of of saggy hooters on the SwPac commander. THEN, I read about the head shop in the Philipines and laughed so hard my wife tried to ground me.

You know, I never really considered that. I always assumed that the map of Albania on Gorbachev's face was a fortuitous chance of birth or maybe due to a hot chocolate accident at Young Pioneer camp. The notion that it might have been engineered by future Kremlin leaders is quite creepy.
