in uranus campaign?

The development team behind the award-winning games Decisive Campaigns: From Warsaw To Paris and Advanced Tactics is back with a new and improved game engine that focuses on the decisive year and theater of World War II! Decisive Campaigns: Case Blue simulates the German drive to Stalingrad and into the Caucasus of the summer of 1942, as well as its May preludes (2nd Kharkov offensive, Operation Trappenjagd) and also the Soviet winter counter-offensive (Operation Uranus) that ended with the encirclement of 6th Army in Stalingrad and the destruction of the axis minor armies. With many improvements including the PBEM++ system, this is a release to watch for wargamers!

do the rivers start frozen without giving defensive benefit and slowing movement, or do they function, and if frozen how do we know from info on map?

Good question. The only way I can see of telling is by driving across one and seeing the cost in AP. I'm sure someone can answer this question?

Actually if the river is frozen it will be colored white instead of blue.

Ok thanks Vic
I had some interesting pbem feedback playing hard recon and German reduced oil, my name for variant.
Love both, much more interesting, perhaps too much info when it's an artillery attack, I find myself attacking with planes and art alt for hard recon...
Also
As german/ axis player i ran out of oil after the red army collapse, early too, in July!!!

Freeboy it's nice to read your comments with capital letters and punctuation. Just saying. I appreciate it. [:)]

Good point on Art; with planes it makes sense to have a fuller recon happening, but art is a blind weapon.
