CV Indomitable Advice Requested

Post by mcbagpip3s »

I am fairly new to this game and am forging thru the grand campaign vs the AI. After about 3 restarts I have reached the 23rd of January and now have a small task force (centered around CV Indomitable) moving to Columbo.

As this carrier is really short on aircraft, what is the standard method to fill it up. I don't seem to have many British carrier capable planes (or perhaps have lost them to the hordes of Japanese).

Should I shuffle some USN fighters over? Are there any issues with operating different nationalities off a CV?

Sorry so many newbie questions:)

Thanks in advance.

You get what you get when it comes to British carriers. It would be highly unrealistic to start shifting new aircraft over, especially US ones.

Besides, you won't get to keep her for very long...

Gotcha....

I was so excited with a new carrier that I didn't see the withdrawal date.

Been playing out my turn this afternoon and am almost considering moving some CV capable aircraft down to Australia in order to bolster any other new CV units that arrive.

You should start seeing Fulmar. Martlet, Swordfish and Albacore replacements plus a few FAA Sqns arrive.

Check the reo schedule.

You dont get any RN CV in Australia, they arrive at Cape Town, Aden or Colombo.

Its a long war, preserve what you can, the CV makes a good convoy escort at worst.

I think there may be a squadron or to you can make carrier trained. Get it done. Get them the heck away from Columbo, they're sitting ducks there, send her back to Cape Town. as for the squadrons, set them to train pilots. The Brits don't have an army/navy divide so the pilots you train will be done at maximum efficiency and can either be used on carriers or land bases. You will desperately need trained replacements in the Burma theatre. Get cracking.

There are two FAA squadrons of Fulmars that arrive in Aden about 3 weeks after the Indomitable. There are also some Vildebeest or Swordfish squadrons around, they could be based on her and become carrier-trained (or shift the one that starts on Hermes over, and use Hermes to train up one of the other ones).
Just when I get the hang of a game, I buy two more... :)

Don't forget to remove the squadrons from the early Brit CVs also. I actually think it might be this one... Note that the ship has a withdrawal date while the air groups on board do not. So you can keep them for later.
