cannot download update 44263

When I try to upgrade BFTB, it installs a new handle, but when it tries to install the patch, it either freezes at the handle prompt, or gives an error message that it cannot open an FTP file. This happens whether I try the install from the game menu or from the update program in the game folder.

Edit: I successfully downloaded and installed the patch from the Matrix site, but I wonder whey I could not do it diretly from the game menu...
