Company of Heroes 2

Post by madflava13 »

Anyone own this game? Graphics look fantastic on youtube videos, but it seems like it's not a game that requires real tactics or strategy - just spam as many troops as you can... For anyone who has it, do you keep your squads between missions? Does experience accumulated during missions increase your squad experience in future battles?

If not, I'll probably steer clear - I'm not interested in a troop-spamming sim - maybe Panzer Command: Ostfront is a better bet?

CoH 2 is very good, but it's not a simulation. There's no keeping squads and no experience.

CoH is based on the War Hammer engine. They basically remodelled the space marines as GI's and Hover tanks as shermans. The game play has not changed from WH, where on-map production factories are required to build units. It only looks like a WW2 game in appearance.

I have it, and I don't care for the campaign. I have not tried skirmish games, so I can't say how those are. I liked CoH1 though. If I could have a do over on the purchase, I definitely wouldn't buy it.

Can anyone comment on the "skirmish" settings wherein you plug in opponents on set maps? I found the first CH to be very replayable when this was factored in. Opinions?

It's okay. Pretty much the same quality level as CoH 1, with the additional effects (like blizzards on appropriate maps) thrown in.

Thanks for the info guys... I ended up pulling the trigger on Panzer Command instead. Happy so far, although it's tough....
