[Modding Question] Multiple questions regarding race and resource modding.

Post by Powermaniac »

Hi all,

Newbie here. So I was wondering if it was possible to make all the races appear to be human, as well as the independent colonies and pirates...? If so how?

Edit: Going to explain this a bit further as well. So I can turn off the pirates which I will as the other factions might act as a sort of pirate faction anyway. So you can't seem to turn off the independent colonies, which is fine as long as I can make all independent colonies human like they were once part of the large human empire but that has fallen apart and now they just survive off the land and any traders that come through.

With the other factions you can have them all human and have different governments, but I was thinking of using the other AI for the other alien races so there is more variety but they still represent the human race, if that is possible.

Why you might wonder, well I basically want to play out the Foundation Trilogy by Isaac Asimov.

So another question is can you set certain factions to be already highly established in the galaxy but still at the starting technology? If so how?

Edit: Let me be more specific here. So I've tried the Old and Mature settings and basically the empire I wanted to be established is too spread out and needs to be concentrated around the core, basically the majority of the core should be under their control.

Again this is to play out the Foundation Trilogy.

One last question for now that I can think of. Can you mod the resources to all have names of known human resources basically? If so how?

Oh and another new question, besides using the Game Editor to place more systems. Is there a way to generate a larger galaxy with over 1400 systems as currently the galaxy isn't large enough...(Trying to push it and see how it goes hardware will not be a limitation, well I doubt it)?

Thanks.

Okay so I've decided to use the Game Editor to create my starting empires the way I want, which is fine, but one problem is I can't see where all the colonies are if I haven't discovered them when I start a new game...So is there anyway to fix that?

Two is there anyway to fully turn off all independent colonies or make them human only?

Three is there anyway to make events like finding a colony ship to only have humans on the ship?

Basically I want this to be a human only game for now (seems more realistic to me anyway as there are meant to be loads of habitable planets out there in our galaxy and yet no contact with aliens has been made or that is known to the public). If I get it working the way I want I will bundle it as a mod for other people to use.

Four are the races balanced? As I can see myself using those races as I think they have slightly different personalities and basically replacing there race type to humanoid and the portraits to human etc. So I'm basically playing with humans that play fairly differently to keep things interesting.

Thanks again.

I would create a mod where you change the name and the portrait of all races to human subfactions. There *are* human subfactions in your game, are'nt there? This way you have a balanced game with all empires and independants appearing human. The problem of not seeing lost colonies cannot be solved, though. They are lost, after all...

Okay so I created a mod with all the portraits changed to appear human and for them to come up as humanoid and for the home worlds to be continental.

Now there is a new problem. I generated a map and the Galactic Empire is located near the centre which is good but with the Game Editor I can't seem to add colonies. Just nothing happens when I select Galactic Empire and click a system...And there are no options under edit empire to do so either...? So yeah any help with that would be appreciated.

Oh and I thought of another issue, is there a way to edit the empire so basically it will fall apart and rebel once the game is running? As yeah now I've had this idea to roleplay the Foundation Series of books I would like to make it somewhat accurate.

Okay think that is it for now thanks.
