just got caught up, seems this is becoming a rather fascinating race between the speed of your shovels and the speed of a T-34 ....

I do find your approach to putting these reports up wonderfully easy to follow ... and good that you avoid the obviously gamey approaches

Thank you. Well, gamey... That is a hard thing to really wrap your head around in this game. With Hitlers demand to keep a lot of troops in being, I doubt I would have been allowed to disband as much as I have irl, and later on, if I am pushed far enough back, I will start to merge infantry divisions. That would never have been allowed by Hitler I think.
And some might call it gamey to stick all your airbases together to fuel a panzer offensive as I did in -41 and -42, but due to the mechanics of the game, you actually have to do some stuff that would never have taken place irl. Are they gamey? Probably...

But Hitler could have stacked more then 3 divisions into a hex. Especially small once.

Do not despair, this game isn't lost and Pelton gave you some very useful advices.

Use the mud turns to build a solid line behind the Dniepr.

Personaly I would avoid sacrifying units (romanians). They can be used to create fortifications.

Can you post the OOB in order to see the evolution?

in my view romanians are two folds
- they can help fortifying a bit and later change their mind to attack with russia
- or be used as eaters of MP

Not to mention that he could have ordered the formation of a 1st SS Tiger Panzer Division [:D]

Yes, Pelton gave good advice, however I will not disband my corps, nor will I split my panzers. As I said, it has to do with my own "mental" setting. Splitting up the panzers and removing one dice throw is something I just cannot get myself to do. It might very well (most likely is) be wrong, but I simply cannot change my way of thinking to such a degree.
Those Rumanians were sacrificed for three reasons;
-To buy me a few turns of time
-They were all rather depleted, and a instead of rebuilding them, I decided to let them die
-I will not have to fight them later on.

OOB will be posted as requested.

Indeed. And as have been shown, I do have enough diggers atm, and as I said, since they were depleted, better to use them to slow down the USSR a little.

Turn 123

Overall
Mud/winter. NO attacks from either side. All our divisions have finally been unfrozen again, and once more our available points are spent on reassigning units. Right now, I am very happy with "dull" turns.

Losses
USSR : 36.000 troops, 254 guns, 28 AFVs, 309 AC.
Axis : 18.000 troops, 129 guns, 21 AFVs, 17 AC

Axis units destroyed
Two empty "army"-airfields were disbanded.

Partisans
We take out 8 of 12. Of the remaining 4, three are in "our" area, and the other in soon to be USSR area0.

German Pools
Manpower : 53.054
Vehicles : 250.723
Armaments : 293.616
Hiwi : 16.292

Turn 124

Overall
Same old same old. Points spent on fortifications and reassigning units. Recons flown. The USSR keeps attacking the city on the west bank of the river and are repulsed. Although for screaming hordes running straight into my MGs they do not take a lot of damage (ok, 200 of my men for 2400 of theirs is ok, but still...).
5 USSR attacks all resulted in helds, although 3 of these were attacks made only by artillery units.

Losses
Twelve. Or something...

Partisans
We take out 6 of 10. Of the remaining 4, three are in "our" area, and the other in soon to be USSR area (Seriously Sean, the area is empty, take it already!).

German Pools
Manpower : 73.326
Vehicles : 248.798
Armaments : 320.238
Hiwi : 14.207

*edit* and yes, there IS indeed a typo in the pic below [:D]

presume your opponent is taking his own sweet time building up for a major blow that will really stretch you north and south?

Might very well be, but he says he has spotted a weakspot somewhere on my line, so I think I will need to see if he suddenly starts shifting forces to one main area.

1. Nope
2. 2 out of 5 are disbanded.
3. 3 of them, lack points atm, so for now finding and relocating more is a lower priority than building my fortlines and reassigning units.

Turn 125

Overall
Finally nothing but mud all across. The only USSR attack was an arty only attack. No losses to speak of.

Losses
USSR : 35.000 troops, 260 guns, 18 AFVs, 256 AC.
Axis : 18.000 troops, 97 guns, 16 AFVs, 20 AC

Partisans
13 start on the map, 6 remain, and yes, one of the latter is in the "why is this not USSR territory yet"-area.

German Pools
Manpower : 91.882
Vehicles : 245.492
Armaments : 346.031
Hiwi : 12.675

Turn 126

Overall
Mud is gone in centre, but we make no attacks. All points spent as usual, and a few more turns and we should have reassigned all units thankfully.

Losses
Probably some...

Partisans
Of the 12 that start on the map, we eliminate 6, 5 are left in our territory, while the last still stands in no-mans-land.

German Pools
Manpower : 109.289
Vehicles : 245.859
Armaments : 368.448
Hiwi : 6.770
Atleast mud gives me the morale boost of seeing my pools increase, even if it is only an illusion due to the mud...

Turn 127

Overall
With the mud gone in the centre, the USSR attempts 4 attacks, all fail, but one of them reduce the fort in the defending hex, and all of them saw reduced Axis CV...
All points are once more spent on fortifications and reorganization. Right now I would gladly trade a division for 100 points...

Losses
USSR : 35.000 troops, 263 guns, 16 AFVs, 143 AC.
Axis : 18.000 troops, 126 guns, 27 AFVs, 16 AC

Partisans
3 of 13 remains at the end of our turn, included in those 3 is the one in no-mans-land.

German Pools
Manpower : 125.725
Vehicles : 246.895
Armaments : 393.935
Hiwi : 9.227

Turn 128

Overall
A good turn for once. In all four USSR attacks, our CV was finally INcreased this turn, bringing all four attacks to a halt. Nor was any forts reduced, that is even more crucial. All points spent as usual.

Losses
USSR : 35.000 troops, 287 guns, 16 AFVs, 191 AC.
Axis : 19.000 troops, 149 guns, 43 AFVs, 66 AC

Partisans
We take out 6 of them, but I forgot to count how many were left.

German Pools
Manpower : 136.291
Vehicles : 248.506
Armaments : 414.246
Hiwi : 9.229
