Getting back into TOAW, questions about current build

Post by Vaevictis_386 »

I haven't played TOAW for some years. Recently I found the Vietnam Combat Operations scenarios and I just had to get back into the game to try them out. Super impressive work!

Now I'm set to get into other scenarios, but can't really figure out what is playable.

I played VCO under the 3.3 patch included in the most recent update. It seemed to work fine. Any recommendations for other scenarios to play under this version?

What scenarios are good under 3.4? I take it anything with important anti-air assets is out given the problems I've read about on this board. As is anything with lots of ignore losses combat.

Personally, I find most scenarios, even with anti-air weapons contained in non-AA units, are playable. **not everyone will agree**. And an agreement with PBEM players not to dig-in units with Ignore Losses. Apparently Elmer has not picked up on this.

I am presently playing Brett Turner's excellent Two Weeks in Normandy v3. It has a number of German beach defense companies/batteries that are Fortified, Ignore Losses. I will be using the AA-Patch; it should be a pretty pure test, since no opposing Luftwaffe- a lot of Allied air, and I modded it slightly assign divisional Flak Abteilung assets to the maneuver battalions. Stay tuned...

Rob,

see my latest post about the AA-bug fix without the 'SAM' effect. WAD.

I've been wondering about this myself. As I am looking forward to starting the VCO tonight. Apparently the last patch I had was the massive 3.2.?? update. Was there other patches besides the 3.4 one and the massive update? Also as a whole, do people feel that, considering AAA seems to be fixed, 3.4 brought a lot of new stuff to the table. I've seen the whats new file, but I'd rather hear back from players on their experiences.

How can I get a hold of the AAA fix and can someone explain the ignore losses issue in simple terms?

a) A thorough analysis, as usual, from Bob Cross regarding the ignore-losses issue:

b) The official patch for TOAW was 3.4.202, can be d/l'd at:
http://www.matrixgames.com/products/317/downloads/
c) Now, the latest un-official, I repeat un-official fix, see:
tm.asp?m=3053630&mpage=1&key=

and

tm.asp?m=3364185&mpage=4&#3370816

Contact kmitahj is the best cause of action. I am personally happy that it
works and it gave me a boost to create more scenarios :)
