Spring 1970

The first season without desertions or abandons, may be because no astronauts left to quit the NASA agency. It’s a hard time to agency and serious decisions will occur. Saturn rocket is ready. Apollo is ready also but no success single flight to date...
Will be planned a duration orbit with the Apollo and next a Lunar Pass.

The soviets receive the new recruits and go at once to Soyuz. No time to advanced training. However, so no actually pilots in Soyuz, is not possible flights next season. The first manned Soyuz mission will be in 1971 at early.

-May 1970: The soviets launch the Soyuz V, a unmanned capsule to orbit the moon and return to earth. The mission was a failure again when primary parachute and emergency parachutes become tangled.

-May 1970: Launching of the Apollo V, the third attempt to three person craft orbit. Armstrong, Collins and Scott make a perfect mission and return safe to earth after a couple of orbits.

Fall 1970

The unexpected success of the Apollo V causes the agency take a very risk mission to be completed this season, a manned Lunar Pass. The moon landing is at this moment impossible because the LM is yet in the R&D.

The soviets had a different kind of problems. They had a almost ready LM but no crews avail.

-November 1970: The russians launch the Cosmos VI, a Mercury probe to get prestige. The mission was a success and gets 5 points.

-November 1970: The Apollo VI, in the first flight of the Saturn V rocket is ready to reach de moon. The former flights of the Apollo program were carried by the Titan rocket and boosters. In the capsule are Duke, Freeman and Evans. The countdown reaches the zero and suddenly, a huge explosion on pad disintegrates the rocket, pad and capsule. The crew was dead.

Well, it's possible get worst result in a single game? Nope.

Spring 1971

The NASA program to reach the moon is almost done between continuous disasters. After a investigation on Saturn rocket, a major engine test failure was detected. This will result in a loss of Safety down to 30%.
The last disaster was a huge setback to budget. NASA focus now in repair Saturn and flight to de moon orbit in Titan+boosters. Only four crews to manage Apollo program.
Soviets now had Soyuz+LM+N1 rocket ready to flight, but, it’s very risky try to reach moon without a single success three person orbit mission.

-May 1971: Launching of the Soyuz VI from Baikonur. Cosmonauts Strekalov, Glazkov and Solovyev make a success duration C mission and return safe to earth. May be the Soyuz program is now ready?

-May 1971: In spite the last disaster with the first flight of the Saturn, NASA decides launch the Apollo VII with Titan+boosters to make a very risky Lunar Pass. The rocket abandon surface and Apollo reaches orbit to general joy, specially between Garriott, England and Carr, the crew aboard. The Apollo complete a trans lunar injection and is the first human craft to abandon LEO. After seven days, Apollo makes a perfect splashdown in middle Pacific ocean. A outstanding success after a total disaster.

Oh man... I really shouldn't, but I am really laughing my a** off
Great AAR... I think there's hardly any hard coded catastrophe that either NASA or the Soviets didn't get in this game... Is there any more room for more catastrophes at all?

Fall 1971

The NASA had now a capable capsule to reach moon, however, no money to R&D LM yet. With so small number of crews available scrub future missions it’s a wrong decision and may be causes another down of moral. Apollo VIII will flight this season in another Lunar Pass.

In the soviet side, western agents have penetrated security and damaged the N1 Rocket program. Repairs will cost 15 MB’s or a 20% Loss in safety will result.

-November 1971: Launching of the Soyuz VII with the first LK Module aboard. The crew was Atkov, Lebedev and Serebrov. It’s a LEO test LM mission. The voyage was running ok but, unfortunately, all attempts to docking Soyuz with LK fail.

-December 1971: Launching of the Apollo VIII in the second Lunar Pass with Titan+boosters. Saturn rocket continues with problems aka no money. The crew was Brand, Bean and Bull and the mission is accomplished with total success. It’s sad anyway, with enough money it’s sure the USA will win this race.

Spring 1972

Astronaut Carr was killed in a automobile crash. Moreover, Collins announced retirement for dissatisfaction with the Space program. Finally, the NASA had money to start with the R&D of the Eagle Module. Other money was spent in recruit the Group V.

In the URSS, the Chief minister of flight operations has reported that the first mission will be delayed for one season due to hairline cracks in the fuel tanks.

No flights this season.

Thanks Fremen. Makes me want to fish out my BARIS game CD and play. I would assume you are using an emulator to run it.
