Bridge repairs

Does the engineer unit need to be located right on top of the bridge hex or is an adjacent hex sufficient? I could not find a clear explanation in the game manual. Apologies if I missed it.

Hello,

they have to be on the same hex as the bridge. They need all action points to do this so they cannot move on it and repair it in the same turn.
If they have all action points, select them and you hover over the hex. The cursor will change into the rerpair symbol and a click executes the repair.

In the AA Smolensk scenario I have had a pioner unit sitting across the damaged bridge for two turns.
It has supply, ammo but I cannot get the repair symbol.
Unable to attach save game, ....sav.xml.gz is not supported and I cannot zip it since it is already zipped...

Pioner bn sitting across a damaged bridge for two turns without being able to repair (no repair symbol).
Cannot attach save or add screenshot (Win8.1 Pro Preview). Used to work fine in Win7 of course...
Anywhere I can send the files?

The engineer unit is on the actual damaged bridge hex/on the bridge, has been selected and you don't get the repair icon when you hover over the damaged bridge hex (the hex on the map)?

Yes, but after three turns idle on the bridge I was ablre to repair.

you also need resources, maybe you were lacking those. But then you should get a "low resources" symbol.

Sorry, I binned it after finally repairing the bridge.
And apparently you cannot recover files deleted from a Dropbox.
