The Road from Alor Star to Singora

Post by el cid again »

The map, from the official US military atlas, shows primary road from Alor Star to Singora.
It also shows the RR spur to Port Swettenham. The road matters to the pace of the Japanese
advance - only WITH it can history be duplicated. The RR is a boon to the Allies - you
cannot rail units to a location not on the rail net - nor can you land supplies nor units
at the major West Coast port and rail them inland - unless the RR - a famous project years
before the war - is built.

Seems like an important addition from a strategic viewpoint if increasing the pace of the IJA advance is desired (or at least the possibility).
