Do you still want to concentrate the northern route in the Aleuts with Americans, or are you going to push to Oz / DEI on the fortress strategy?

The only reason I found it was because i was thinking, "Now where the heck are those AR's? They should be there by now...."

On that compass, Cannonfodder, I'm inclined to explore western territories ...

Quick update:
The KB is moving back up the coast towards Brisbane. The Lex has system damage of 93. My suface combat ships still refuse to engage the enemy even on the threat tolerance "Absolute", although 2 AK's did "attack" the KB as it moved north. Dozens of attack planes on the coast around Sydney and Brisbane still refuse to fly. The Japanese are running TF's with impunity throughout the DEI and the coast of Oz. All I can do is watch, and try to route cargo ships out of their way. My frustration with this game is mounting daily. I am going to close it down for now and go do some things around the house; I just don't feel like wasting more time with it right now.

Let him have his fun while he can, in 12 short months you're going to be getting waves (nigh-literal oceans!) of men and steel with which to drown him.

Yes, I understand that. In that regard it is the same as the old WitP. My frustration lies in me being an aggressive player and not being able to get my forces to do what I want them to do, and in the process they sail about waiting for Japanese planes to show up. Partly due my own mistakes, and a large part because of the game engine, my Navy has effectively ceased to exist as a fighting force. Dozens of attack planes, many with high experience and good leaders, sit at their bases and watch the KB pummel Sydney while they do nothing. I am pretty much going to have to Sir Robin it now, which I don't like doing.
EDIT: But don't pay too much attention to my ranting. I am just venting.

Welcome to the world of automated AI responses that makes no sense! [:D] I have no idea how many times I have raged in my AAR about my LBA refusing to fly against the KB for absolutely no reason. Probably a code somewhere saying LBA_STRIKE IF "KB" = NO_FLY or something.

When you set Absolute what was the shape/dimensions of your Patrol zone? Are you sure the patrol wasn't executed and the ships aren't back at Point 3 in Sydney having missed the KB at sea? Also, there is a lot of evidence and some old dev comments that there is an added random check when an Air TF is being intercepted by a Surface. IOW, the Air TF has a better chance to decline battle and escape without shots.
How far off the coast is the KB? Do the attack planes in Oz have fighters with enough range to escort them onto the KB? Or do only the bombers have enough range?
What is the DL on the KB?

So all the KB has to fear is Dutch subs, massed attacks by non-existent Allied carriers, and colliding with an errant Allied AK? Heck, why is Skyros wasting his time attacking Sydney? He should be sailing up and down the West Coast pummeling cities there!

Also mines. [:)]
AE is just different in that the COs will sometimes say "no." Drives a lot of wargamers crazy and many have come and gone over it. But morale, experience, and damage checks often allow air units to decline suicide missions. Air superiority is checked at the beginning of the turn phase; there's a text message saying it's being calculated at the start of the movie.
Surface TFs can intercept Air TFs. It's happened to everybody, but it doesn't happen every time. When I said "play paranoid" I was being truthful. You don't have a god-like POV in AE. You set up parameters as well as you can with imperfect data, try to provide contingencies, and then sit back and let the electron COs do their thing. Naval warfare is by far the most extreme area of this idea. In comparison land events are robotic. LCUs pretty much do as they're told, except on path-finding once in awhile. But after four years we're still arguing about the use of picket ships in an attempt to spoof the naval code into doing what we want. And the "React even with React=0" still makes some players apoplectic. Ask Canoerebel about that one. [:)]
If you had 4-5 USN carriers meet the KB right now the USN air wings would fly and you'd have a big furball battle you wouldn't like much. LBA flying on carrier TFs is still like alchemy. But range and air superiority and DL are the keys so far as I know. How they interact? Magic. [;)]

So NOW you tell me! Gee, thanks a lot! [:D]
Seriously though, what the heck is this? It just showed up in Cape Town and withdraws in 3 days?

It is a resupply convoy with 120.000 supply points, 18.000 fuel points and several squads, AFV and devices. The moment it withdraws (3 days) you get the supply/fuel added to Cape Town and the other stuff goes into your pool.. Including 48 british infantry sections and 24 25 pounder guns!
YEAH BABY!
Even better: You get more of these. Just check LCU reinforcement cue for Supply Convoy

These convoys are a really cool way the devs came up with to reflect Allied production surges when production for them is not wholly modeled. They made naval convoys be represented by LCUs which could be queued and timed to arrive in specific ports. Take a look where and when and it will influence your strategy for hauling stuff to CT. A vast amount of supply and fuel will just appear there in these convoys; just needs to be hauled to final destination. Later, after May 1943 when Aden opens to the Med, you'll get many millions of supply appear there. Once in a while one of these comes into Port Stanley or the Canal Zone, but most are CT or Aden.
Also, there's a big LCU called "1942 AA Pool" or similar. It appears and poofs away in late June 1942. It dumps huge batches of AA devices, motorized support and other goodies into the pools on that day. Very helpful.

Yeah - that AA pool appear at Eastern US. Once the devices are dumped in the pool, they can go virtually anywhere that has supply.
If the Japanese invasions trigger any emergency reinforcements, you can also get additional "Emergency" supply convoys at Aden and Capetown. They are not one-shot deals either - you get one a month over at least six months. I guess the idea is to provide supply and fuel for the LCUs, ships and Air Units that appear as emergency reinforcements when the invasions trigger them.
Capetown can be tricky at first. I ran it out of fuel hauling supply out and assuming fuel would arrive there daily. It didn't, and I pulled some of the shorter-range tankers off the map to haul fuel to CT from Eastern USA. A few months later I noticed that CT had far more fuel than supply, and started diverting tankers to haul on-map again.
Mombassa builds supply and fuel very slowly, but every once in a while you can send a couple of xAKs in there to pull it out. Keep some for the African units that appear there so that you can Transport/Amphib them with full supply when they appear.

A War of Posts
After the recent naval disasters, my surface combat forces will be withdrawing from combat for the most part. Although I still have a decent number of cruisers, they are spread all over the map. The POW is one turn away from the dubious safety of Batavia, with air cover courtesy of the heroic, yet ineffective, Dutch Air Force. Oddsmakers in Las Vegas give her a slim chance of surviving this ordeal for the Japanese are frolicking about the map without a care in the world.
The Japanese Air Force has wisely decided to stay away from Rangoon, the AVG gave them a bloody nose when they came to call. One of the three squadrons drew the short straw and was sent back to China where some decent fighters are badly needed. 16 of the 1st squadron planes are fit for duty in Kweilin. Once the trail of broken airplanes rejoin the squadron, it will hop down to Wuchow for The Big Ambush, and after that will probably be split up to spread some love around China.
A total of three Japanese units have wandered out of the bush and are stacked across the river from Pegu where the 1St Burma Division and friends happily await an attack. The Japanese are drawing supply up the trail behind them, so are likely a bit short. It just occurred to me that the Japanese might be dropping some supplies on them – I will check that out next turn.
American air crews from the Lexington and Enterprise are carousing in Canberra bars wooing the ladies with heroic tales of the destruction of Japanese troop convoys, while Sydney burns.
In the far north, construction at the airfield is moving along nicely – level 2 plus 22%, so one of the base forces has been loaded onto transports bound for Adak to start work on fortifications there. The long term operation in the North continues.
The Philippines: Japanese troops have moved to the Clark field hex and are inexplicably just sitting there. The base is theirs for the taking. Bataan is forts 3 plus 78%, 2007 AV, and 38725 supply. The Japanese have started doing Oscar sweeps over Bataan, but a single bomb has yet to fall.
Singapore is unlikely to get much more supply now the IJN is priapically cavorting about. The 223 and 224 Air HW units are flying to Palembang, the 223 is nearly done, just the torpedo thingy is left. I am not sure if I can fly that out or not though, but I want it in Palembang pretty badly. The fort is level 3 plus 69%, supplies are 75368 and 1290 AV. Morale and cohesion are definitely improving with the new leadership on the island, the Japanese are going to find the Gibraltar of the East a bitter pill to swallow.
Palembang, after the arrival of the 18th British Division, is growing its fortifications rapidly, 2 plus 11%. The 18th has lots of engineers, and the artillerymen have joyous news that 25 pounders will be coming their way soon. Supplies are only 35,600 because much of what was delivered was sent either to Singapore of the Java seabed. I will try to bring more in quickly. Arriving in Oosthven next turn are the 63rd Indian Brigade, the 7th Heavy AA Regiment, and the 2/3 MG battalion. Palembang currently has 675 AV, with one Indian Brigade detailed to Oosthaven and another to Prabomofo, or whatever it is called. Only two turns away is another convoy bearing the 6th Heavy AA and the 85th British AT Regiment. The first convoy bears few supplies but the second has 13-14k.
Skyros better bring some friends along to Sumatra. Further north, Dutch forces have consolidated at Medan and are almost to forts 2 with about 200 AV, which is pretty good considering they only have 7 engineers there.
Unrestricted US land forces have just begun to arrive in the Eastern US via train, whereupon they will magically be teleporting to Cape Town. I realize this method is slow, but transport hulls on the WC are a little scarce right now, and the Allies have tons of them at, or near, Cape Town.
