Whimpy Army Pilots

Post by Mike Carroll »

I have several squadrons of P-38's that can not do any sustained operations without their morale plummeting. I put them on long-range cap for one day and they drop from 55 to 30. And this is in a hex that is only 4 hexes away. I put them on an escort mission 7 hexes away and they are done after one sortie. By contrast my Marine pilots seem to operate indefinitely without a significant loss of morale. I have an F-4U1 squadron that has been on long-range cap over a base 4 hexes away for two weeks straight. They have been involved in numerous battles. The P-38s that I send in to help them last a day or two and then have to go home to their mommies.

What factors impact morale? Any ideas on how I can use these squadrons better. Thanks

Low to start with

Hi, 55 is pretty low morale to begin with. Put them in a base away from combat and let them rest up to 99. (Start high stay high, start low get lower)

Also compare leaders and training (better leaders and training help maintain morale)

I'm not retreating, I'm attacking in a different direction!

If it is wimps that you are talking about then how about those B-24 wankers? Those can start on 99, and their moral just falls away faster than an Italian Navy BB doing an about turn ! And all the while the B-17 guys are there holding the line.

Never argue with an idiot, he will only drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.
