Changing Galaxy Generation Parameters

Post by Anthropoid »

I don't like how solar systems tend to form in Shadows 1.9.06; There are enough stars and even the distribution of stars is okay, but there are not enough non-luminous bodies (planets, moons, asteroids).

If it is possible, I'd like to fiddle with the random galaxy generating parameters and see about making each star type have a bit more stuff to go with it than it presently gets by default.

I found this: tm.asp?m=2972691, but it doesn't seem to say anything about galaxy generation.

Is it possible?

What files do I need to monkey with?

I'm not aware of any way this can be done currently. There is a hard limit of (I believe) 255 objects per solar system, and most of these objects usually end up being asteroids. This is also dependent on the type of star, with certain stars having few or no bodies at all. Also keep in mind that solar systems with many planets and moons get quite crowded due to the nature of the interface. It is common to see planets and their moons intersecting each other as they orbit even with current systems. I deal with this by pretending that the bodies shown are the major bodies of the system, and that there are many other minor bodies that have no relevance and are thus not shown. It isn't ideal but it isn't immersion breaking imho.

All that said it is a matter of preference but unfortunately I don't believe there is a way to change these parameters.

Thanks for the response dostilevi. Bummers that the settings can't be changed. I reckon my machine could handle it if I just upped the ranges for each star by 1 order of magnitude for each range.
