You must read that thread/essay to get a real answer, but basically shipyards generate points. They are allocated based on priorities, etc. Different durability ships take different amount of points to repair a point of damage. When a ship accumulates enough, it repairs a point. More or less the same with the other three repair modes.

As you might imagine, the amount of points generated is greater for more/bigger stuff - bigger shipyard, more repair ships, more naval support, larger port.

What I was saying is I think i remember that the shipyard stands alone and the other things do not contribute to it making repairs on ships. I might be wrong. Better read that thread to find out! [:D]

From Alfred's guide:

"IRP generated by shipyards are expended only on ships in “shipyard repair mode”, undergoing repair in the shipyard. Ships in “shipyard repair mode” only use IRP generated by the shipyard, they do not benefit from IRP generated by other sources. Repairs to ships not in “shipyard repair mode” do not benefit from any IRP generated by the shipyard.

Ships in “repair ship mode” will benefit only from IRP generated by the relevant “repair ships” (see tables F and G below for the relevant “repair ship”). When there are ships in “repair ship mode”, IRP generated by repair ships are not expended on ships in any other repair mode. However, if there are no ships in “repair ship mode”, the IRP generated by “repair ships” will be directed automatically by the “repair manager” to ships in “pierside mode” only, they will not be expended on ships in “readiness mode”.

The IRP generated by ports and naval support squads are pooled together and are expended each turn on ships in “pierside mode” or “readiness mode”.

It has been a busy few days, both in the game and in real life so I apologize for lapsing in the AAR.

To start with, the China front is little changed from the previous war of attrition; the lines are fairly static for now. All necessary forces for Operation San Francisco are en route to Pearl Harbor which is a good thing because with the current Japanese operational tempo in the DEI, a diversionary thrust in the Pacific would be welcome.

The Japanese made a good effort to “steal” Medan in Sumatra by ferrying troops across to Langsa via barge and marching South to Medan, and they very nearly succeeded before I was about to muster the necessary forces to counter the threat.

I thought the base would fall very shortly, but the cavalry arrived in the nick of time in the form of B-17 strikes, Dutch Falcons with their itty-bitty bombs, and naval surface forces. The B-17’s have been hitting the 41st Inf. Regiment as well as one squadron of the Falcons while the other has been interdicting barge traffic. Three PT-Boats have also been mixing it up with the barges, but the true coup de grace came when the Allied navy, previously tasked to Operation x-Fecta showed up on the scene. Besides sinking 20-odd barges, they also bombarded both Georgetown and Langsa simultaneously.

I will briefly depart the narrative to mention that Japanese surface and air fleets are off the North coast of OZ, apparently attempting to disrupt the DEI reinforcements that are actually coming from the IO. Other than that, I cannot fathom the fascination with Northern Oz. The fighting has largely been one-sided except for two Japanese AMC’s that were sunk near Horn Island by a squadron of SBD’s flying from Port Moresby.

Now back to Sumatra….

The Electra spotted another flotilla of barges at Georgetown, but failed to sink any, although the very recently laid 150 MKVII mines there by CM Abdiel did claim a barge heavily damaged.

The airfield service damage is 33 and runway damage is 4; there are a lot of engineers at the base. The first turn attacks nearly had the runway damage at 50%, but as attrition and airframe damage mounts on his planes the strike effectiveness is diminishing. The Japanese also bombarded Oosthaven this turn doing significant damage to the base and killing a few patrol aircraft, but probably the biggest significance of the strike is that he now knows that Indian troops, namely the 45th Indian Brigade is in Sumatra.

To the East of the island is a BB fleet, supposedly to help blockade Palembang, but he allowed them to stay a little too close to my LBA:

Burma is definitely getting interesting, the Japanese are obviously sneaking troops northward along the trails to the east, which I discovered last turn when the Japanese suddenly took Taung Gyi with the 1st RTA Division. The 16th Indian Brigade is rushing to the scene from Mandalay. Although I do intend to abandon Rangoon at some point, I do not want to yet because the 6th Australian Division is loading aboard ship at Calcutta for transport to Rangoon and then up the rails to Mandalay. The Mandalay BMP battalion is packing up to move to Lashio. Meanwhile I will be doing some recon to see what else is up the Japanese sleeves.

Speaking of carnage, the Japanese moved a bunch (about 100 planes) of LBA to Moulmein a turn ago, and most of the British Navy was in port at Rangoon. That move puzzled me because in case of disaster at that airfield, he cannot move the planes out by rail.

Moulmein got blasted, and will be blasted again this next turn. I plan on doing an update after the next turn because the Japanese will be landing at either Ossthaven or the base next to Batavia this turn, unless he turned back the landing force due to excessive losses from torpedo bombers.

Soros has to be getting tired of those CA bombardments. I am pretty surprised he hasn't move KB up to eliminate that threat. I do like the cumulative attrition you have accomplished on the KB Air compliment. It will reap great rewards later, and your opponent probably will want those pilots back.

That's a long ways for KB to sail, but it's a good place to send MKB. IMO Skyros would be making a mistake by sending KB to deal with naval forces in the IO/Bay of Bengal, as it would give AUTiger free reign in the Pacific proper with the USN CVs for at least a week.
