Touch of insomnia this morning. AW1Steve graciously considered this, so I had a turn to work on. [&o]
Also a touch of reminiscence...my favorite combat report / replay ever: From April 9, 1942, in the Indian Ocean. Thanks for the memories, Steve! [:D]

Nashvillen, et. al,
Some clarification may be in order to avoid misinterpretations.
This carrier was damaged the previous day in an exchange with KB. She (and escort
Nestor) were trying to make for safety when she was put under by my two DDs. Hence the daytime intercept.
No good player (and Steve is certainly a very good player [&o]) worth their salt would have a single DD as escort to a CVTF, excepting contingencies such as this when she was trying to make for safety and was flight inoperative.
After she was sunk, KB aggressively pursued the rest of the RN in the area.
Indomitable's sinking meant the balance of the RN force was devoid of aircover. They were treated rudely hereafter. I don't think that Steve knew that I had KB operating in the area and KB was undetected by naval search assets in the area.
Apologies to Steve for aspects of my previous post that came off as 'crowing'. He's a good player and a good friend and I didn't mean to suggest to any readers of the THREAD that his loss of
Indomitable was due to a rookie / stupid mistake.
For additional context: We are playing scenario 2, which provides the IJ some considerable advantages-this is an important caveat in interpreting the status of the game and our competition too. If anyone here is considering playing Steve, I'd recommend him very strongly. Heck, I think I've played him in something like 3 CGs and a couple of scenarios.
Anyways, 'nuff said for additional context. WRT the (admittedly out of context) intercept cut and pasted above: it was pretty sweet though, wasn't it?
