What is the sign for when you are standing on the deck of a damaged CVE and a *#(@)#(# Ida drops a 60 lb bomb which flies right down the stacks, right through the disabled boiler, out through a drain, down a ladder, ricochets off a steam pipe, down another deck and then strikes a damaged hull support which cracks, causing the keel to crack like an egg?
.!..
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

I didn't see the facepalm, which I'd recommend in this instance.

I found most of this signs not in the common repertoire but Two important ones not covered ..the ol' trick of stealing a child's nose and putting ones thumb between the index and first finger is an insult and the "OK" sign .. both meaning the same thing ... Probably what the Hispanic squid buried deep in that CVE was making .. everybody is thinking .."Hey were OK!!" [8D]

RE: The strawberry as an allegorical device
Wow! Good show in Burma. Never seen simultaneous attacks like that. That was a serious mistake by the Shinto Boys, attacking like that at Mandaray. I can see why they tried given how disastrous the combat result looked from the day before for the Arries. Turned out, however, all the Indian divisions were only at about 50% disruption after the river crossing. They might have been able to hold up to our attack had they not disemboweled themselves first.
I'm guessing they retreated West, also a big mistake, but they came blame that on the AI. Had they retreated to Meiktila, they would have prevented its capture.

Central Burma is completely toast for the Shinto Boys, Odin-worshippers and McGoo Cargo Culters alike. That LYB unit at Magwe has started moving East to Miktila but it's too late. Arried armour from Mandaray will beat them there.

As far as the greater Burma .. Chickenboy still maybe thinks there is a possible secondary line .. my money is that a few stray units exist in the jungle/road hexes ...
Once Armor gets into the Thai Plains .. it is all over .. John Pinette can start the opera ...

Yes, they could form a line in the jungle/jungle rough hexes but they have to have the men to do it.

RE: The strawberry as an allegorical device
JJ still has 2 tank divisions at Prome and somewhere out there is 33rd Div, last seen heading west from Lashio, and Imperial Guards.
They've lost their strongest defence line (with only level 2 forts!) but they still have some fight in them yet.

Like my 5th Grade teacher told the class, "Don't put words in my mouth. It's unsanitary."
It's possible that Taung Gyi is supported / defended / built up. I know I'd do it-and a few other choice JR or J hexes too. I'm not sure about the uber-Emperor in this case. There've been some real head scratchers with the Japanese R&D and deployments (Truk? Still? Really?). I've no idea what the Allied dogs will find elsewhere in Burma in this game. Anything could happen.

I did not mean to put words into your mouth as much as summarizing our thread .. my gut feel in looking at the combat reports indicates to me that there is not a whole lot more of unengaged units worth putting on a defensive line and I understand your post:
"Aye, but what information do we, the implaccable [sic] readers, have regarding recent recon efforts at Taung Gyi and beyond (the secondary WJD MLR)?" (WitP AE AAR, 2013, post 13021)
Suggests to me that one needs to still consider a secondary line ...not so much as putting words in our mouth as summarizing and extending .. done everyday in peer reviewed journals ...thus I quote "thinks maybe .." but a better way of putting this is that Chickenboy's comment in post 13021 suggests to me to still consider a secondary line ... [8D]
Now I agree that Tuang Gyi can be a tough nut to crack and could be built up .. but I think it will soon be neutralized by Spirior's move on Prome and ability to cross over the jungle to cut off rail supply ... Thus whatever is defending the critical rail junctures is in deep trouble from my experiences ...N=2 in which I used a Burma offense to end the game in '43 and mid '44 respectively ... regardless of Cap's move to turn the Home Islands into ash ...
