Michael - Problem with Port Level 0 Detection

Post by Quixote »

Michael,
Sorry to add to your off-work load, but there appears to be a problem with detection levels at level zero ports. The problem is that however many ships are disbanded in a level zero port, nothing ever shows up on recon. I'm attaching a save so you don't have to set up your own test. I used Groot Natoena as the test base. I ran several tests which failed to pick up a single ship in port despite a lot of recon. Nothing was ever detected despite using more than 100 planes over 15 turns in the effort. Not a big deal, since it's just one ship. The problem is, you can disband a seemingly endless number of ships into a level zero port and none of them will ever get detected. The attached save (it's only head to head, so anyone can download and try this), has an Allied CL, 5 DDs, and 2 AMCs at Groot Nateona. However long I run the test, Japanese recon still never picks any of them up. (Note - I did try, and disbanded ships can still be bombed in port even when they are invisible, so they're not completely invincible, but this could still allow for a rather potent exploit of the engine. Thanks again for taking a look at this whenever you get the chance. -Quixote.

A port of 0 is being confused with NO port - no port, anchor icon not shown, and thus can't see any ships.
Ummmm..
---------
Have added additional check - port =0 but ships sighted in port, plus DL >0 will draw the anchor icon
Other '0' ports wont show anchor
--------
I actually thought you couldn't disband in 0 port for some reason. Nothing in the manual or notes stopping it.

My partner and I just found this thread and it explains a few things we noticed in our current PBEM.

Has this fix been included in a patch yet?
