War of the Pirates

There i was, just minding my own buissness on one of my newly conquerd planets suppressing the native Mortalen population when all of the sudden a Pirate World Destroyer appears out of nowhere, followed shortly by a whole pirate fleet of ANOTHER pirate faction.

They destroyed my small defence fleet in a matter of seconds before they turned on eachother.
The Pirate world destroyer completely oblitterated the other fleet of about a dussin ships before it started to charge up its super weapon.

At this point I felt it was time for paying tribute to them... They left seconds later but it was still a cool event xD

Yes they can...there are usually 2 or 3 on the map. And when pirates have one, they become a real threat. Though in one game, I got all 3....

Kingah, LOL ... now I assume the AI was smart enough to add a 0 or two to the protection fee ... ?
