Where do attached support unit come from ?

Post by AlexSF »

I was wondering where do these support units that you attach to your divisions come from ? They are not the same as the ones belonging to your division commanding HQ.
Do they belong to some other pool of available support units ?

The parent corps HQ, the army HQ above the corps HQ, the army group HQ above the army and OKH. With the Soviets it is army, front, Stavka.

Ooh I see, indeed. I did a bit of in game research with a German Inf div in Memel in June 41 belonging to the XXVI Corps. You are right. If you go up the hierarchy to the 16th Army, AGN and finally OKH you get the whole choice of support units available for that division.
Thanks for the info, I was only looking at the Corps HQ before.
