I think most readers here are more familiar with palm "dates" growing up, Lord Admiral. [:)]

[forget Rangoon and Moulmein .. this juggernaut is headed for all of Southeast Asia ..] .. You might be right Chickenboy .. this might not get to '44 [:(]

Now for something completely different....
Horrycrappo-jima: The air drop yesterday of 1st Marine Para did not go off. I wonder if the code will not permit an air drop on a friendly base (with no airfield). Pretend I didn't read the manual...but I'm betting it is not in there. [:'(] Will see if it works today. In the meantime, it is up to the USN and RAN to protect the prace as their are Shinto-boys right off shore throwing up fish-head soup in their rittah green brain buckets. No counterattack at the fortress the Aussie paras landed right on top of (the next island over) during their recon by jumping out of airprane attack.

RE: Odin, up close and personal
The code does allow that. Remember that para-jumps are only to normal range of the aircraft, not extended range.ORIGINAL: Cap Mandrake

Horrycrappo-jima: JJ surface groups were spotted N and NE of Horrycrappo-jima yesterday. They first send a spotter group or an ASW group or an ammo-eater group depending on one's perspective. [;)] Can't blame them. They have to use what they have. Arleigh Burke is in charge for us. He either:
1) Does not trust radar
-or-
2) Is worried about friendly fire accidents
-or-
3) Is trying to save ammo
When opposing forces spot each other at 1000 yds, Takunan Maru seems to be wearing an exprosive vest.

Next up a CL group. It's *#&$($@(@ Isuzu! We sink her again. If anyone knows how to use 5 Fletcher-class it's Burke. Our torpedoes work now. Fighting starts at 1000 yds. This is quite a turn around from early 42. A knife fight at night in a thunderstorm with a sliver of moon...and the USN comes out on top. Burke retires as the ammo is gone.

Wasp and Yorktown have moved North. They are packed with F6F's but do manage to send off a squadron SBD's and catch the IJN DD's. Not easy to hit, they are. An afternoon attack with 13 SBD's scores no hits.

Japanese/Dutch/Timorese Timor: JJ transports were spotted at Koepang. Support elements of 32nd ID were being escorted from Port Hedrand to Darwin and were escorted by a small surface group....hmmmm? What if we sent the surface group to Koepang and recovered toward Saumlaki while sending some fighters to Lautem cover them.....hmmm?
