Pilot pools

Post by ndworl »

Playing as Japan, I have no replacements as a default for aircraft. Yet my IJN pilot pool disappears after the first couple of turns. Is there anything else I should have switched off?

That's Japan's training program for you. No matter how hard you try to husband the pool combat drains it quickly.

I never thought that doing an AAR would be so time consuming and difficult.

Yes, I get that. But I was wondering if it is possible to set the defaults so you manually allocate replacements to the air units you prefer. I have the "replacements" option set to "Off" but still the pilot pool disappears. Is there something else I should do?

Post, please the picture of details panel for your typical airgroup. In general it is possible to control plane/pilot replacements manually. In fact that is the way I always play as japanese. I used to run out of IJNAF pilots somewherebetween Marz-July of 42. I think it shouldn't happen in the first few turns. There is per-airgroup option/button which decides if replacements should be auto-assigned.
