moddable game ?

Germany At War: Operation Barbarossa 1941 is an elegant turn-based design, inspired by classics such as Panzer General, but with more of a historical focus. You command the German forces through a branching historical campaign covering the entire 1941 campaign as well as part of the 1942 campaign. Dozens of scenarios stretch from the Soviet border all the way to Archangel and towards Astrakhan, the original military goals of Operation Barbarossa. Step into a wargame where your performance will rewrite history, through an addictive combination of compelling gameplay, realistic events and challenging battles.

moddable game ?

Post by laska2k8 »

hi,

I don't own the game, I realized that an editor is included and I got some question to ask before choose to buy.

- are the graphics (terrain, unit) moddable ?
- are user scenarios restricted to the barbarossa period ?
- How many nations (ie USA) can be added ?

My primary goal is to recreate the battle of the bulge, my hope is to be able to do it with this game.
thanks

I have Bulge and (Market Garden among others) on my list too. [;)]
Currently you are restricted to the East Front with units from Germany + allies and Russia.
Open the editor and take a look at the Unit selector.

There is no way to the graphics (units/terrain) at this stage, but the devs have said they will open up the game for modding.
All this stuff is now hidden in one large resource file.
Also, you need to edit the scenario xml-file to add/edit a number of things. A more user-friendly editor is promised later.

It is possible to create scenarios like the stock ones, but the learning curve is pretty steep.
Se my 'Editor stuff' thread for some Qs & As.

I have finished my first scenario and it seems to be working quite nicely. I have plans to add more icing to the cake later, but hope to make a beta version available in a couple of days.

Hope this helps
Erik
