The ol' surround your enemy's hex deal.

SPWaW is a tactical squad-level World War II game on single platoon or up to an entire battalion through Europe and the Pacific (1939 to 1945).

I'm speaking of how in the old versions of SP where to kill say a T-34 you would have to surround it with your PzIVEs or Gs and pound it at point blank range with the target continuously rotating to face its front armor around to face each shot.

That was very annoying, thus eliminating multiple side and rear shots.

So my question is-Has that been fixed for SP:W@W to where you can pump off several shots at the exposed weak sides?

The proper way to deal with a tank requiring flank hits to kill is through interlocking fields of fire, so when it turns to face one threat, its flank is to the other. That works properly now, as the horizontal and vertical angles are accounted for in a more accurate way.

The tanks are given thickness and slope values (composite values where more than one plate makes up a given facing, or a surface is curved).

Tanks also take damage from non-penetrating hits, and crews can bail out.

PvIVes are infantry support tanks - so they have trouble against a T-34. Pz IVGs do pretty well at range with their 75L43, The 75/48 armed Pz-IVH does better! You are playing to teh T-34s strength if you close to within 500 yards to engage. Stand off with interlocking fields of fire and you do well!

Hey B&G! Welcome!

The tank numbers have been reworked completely in this game. Paul Vebber and Fionn Kelly and othes worked for months to make these as realistic as possible. When you open the data sheet on a tank in SPWAW you are going to be pleasantly surprised.

The armor team has striven for as much historical accuracy as possible. It will be seen when the game is played.

Shermans no longer romp and play at their leisure. A Tiger is to be feared once more. A Panther now has fangs.

Hits are shown differently too. And you can bail out when you like.

Crews that have evacuated, if unsuppressed and in sufficient number will return to their vehicles and guns and start again.

Even bunkers can now be evacuated should you choose to do so.

Speaking of bunkers, (you didn't...I did), they are mean jokers now. They will hurt you.

In this game there is a greater need for the use of tried and proved real military tactics...more than ever before. I think you'll be pleased.
