Yum, a Nipponese Spamarama! I'm guessing the asphalt looking overcoat is seaweed or something else very heart-healthy. Eating that will surely make one smile broadly.
Ser Greyjoy, on another note, I heard that JRR Martin spoke a some recent sci-fi con and was loudly accousted by chants of "Finish the book! Finish the book"! I concur, your honor.

I'm told Spam is big in Korea. For one thing a respectful gift to bring to someone's home on a holiday.

By a very, very large margin Hawaii indexes the highest on Spam consumption among the fifty states. A hold-over from the war. Having lived there I can attest that grocery stores often have 12-16 linear feet of gondola stocked five feet high with cans of the product.

RE: THE HEAD OF THE SNAKE
In my youth I worked at a industrial meat processing center here in Sweden. Things I learned from that experience:
Buy only sausages from a proper supplier.
Minced meat isn´t really meat...its "meat".
And the most important lesson:
Never, ever under ANY circumstances eat spam in any shape, sort or form. The way the make that crap is just...yuck!

RE: THE HEAD OF THE SNAKE
The main problem is NOT if, or when, to have decisive battle, but preparing for afterwards of it.
Assuming, that you will win (or, what is more possible both sides withdraw to lick their wounds), are you prepared to exploit this opportunity? If both sides just withdraw, you will hardly achieve anything, except few weeks of time.
Also - try to put rebuilding IDs on your secondary/third line to rebuild, and prepare there. PI is good target, as it have lots of bases to support rebuilding.

One of the cooked meats that I used to buy had as its main ingredient "reformed meat".
Didn't buy it again after that
C'mon Greyjoy, where is the map update?

Inqistor raises a good point-- what do you do after the victory? It seems like as the Japanese, the best thing to do is... still retreat some lol...
As for spam, we had to eat prodigious quantities of it as a hazing technique in college. This was not fun. The best concoction was the "spamshake"-- basically, water and spam in a blender with some other unknown disgusting things (probably insects, and other unnameables).
And yes, let's see a map (and economics

RE: THE HEAD OF THE SNAKE
Sorry guys for the delay. A slow week end with many problems with Valentina...
Brad sent me the turn on Sat night but I was just able to see the replay. Nothing much happened sadly.
He sent 2 x 2DD TFs against Koepang, sinking 3 xAKLs delivering supplies and then fighting against the Yamato TF led by Tanaka... 4 DDs sunk for him and 1 DD damaged for me.
He kept his TFs far away from my bases... probably waiting for an attack against his heavily LRCAPPED TFs...didn't happen[;)]
Not less than 30 subs are infesting the waters between Kendari, Makassar and Timor... thanks God only 1 PB sunk due to them this turn.
Boela and Ambon are attacked by 4Es..
And some stupid commander ordered a naval attack against his shippings at Misol... 4 Helens escorted by 70 zeros....[:o]... 50 good pilots lost for nothing...I hate when it happens.
However now I know he has APAs at Misol...is he advancing?
Ships are also spotted near Woleai in the Pacific....[8|]
Tomorrow will be another tense day. Hope to be able to play today and so to post some decent update with maps and stuff...

Ok, lots of requests. Hard to replay to everybody, but i'll try my best.
Feb 7, 1944
Brad sends his DDs in advance, screening his main TFs and soaking up Japanese air operations.
A part from the mentioned 2 DDTFs intercepted and sunk by Tanaka at Roti, there are many more fletchers TFs 5 hexes SW of Koepang. 50 Judy and 50 Jills took of from Koepang, but we scored only 1 bomb hit on a DD...thus losing more than 15 planes to flak [X(]... His BBs and CVs remain behind... he clearly wants to put a CAP Trap in order to destroy my chance of replying to an invasion...
At Misol the enemy keeps on landing troops...not much I can do there for the moment, except from speeding up the reinforcement of the second defensive line.
Landings continue at Sarmi... he hasn't attacked so far yet.
My KB remains behind the main LBA line... i'm thinking about sending her in next turn and see if I can look for a decisive battle when he's not landed yet...
However there is another vector... barges and PTs are getting close to Lautem...probably a landing at Watar (after the failed para attempt of Feb 6)...
To be honest I'm not so sure what to do next. If I lose this battle my only strategy is to keep on doing what i'm doing and rely a lot more on my LBA, but knowing that, without the KB, he could land almost everywhere.
If it's a draw...well, I had gained time...and time is the only real thing I need now. I cannot hope to counter attack anywhere. Don't have enough ships, nor men, nor supplies or fuel to do that.
The supply situation is getting horrible. I'm doing my best to save what I can in order to keep on fighting... no forts above lvl 6... almost everywhere I stop at level 5... very few building AFs/port... I try to move as less ships as possible... but supplies and fuel levels simply keep on getting lower everyday.
The economy is still in shape. 2.5M HIs in the bank...but the real problem, again, are the supplies. I'll run short of them very soon!

Wow! Nice line from Soemba to Timor. Even the dot hexes have garrisons.
Small ones unfortunately...and they barely have the minimum supply needed... I've sent fast transports everywhere in order to keep them supplied but now, with the enemy so close, it's becoming a challenge to keep my units in supply
RE: THE HEAD OF THE SNAKE
Brad's turn should arrive tomorrow... these turns are really slow unfortunately. The turns are massive and both me and Brad are pretty busy at work and with family... the worst possible moment, in game terms, to be so slow
To answer to the economy inquiries, here's a screenshot from Tracker...
As you can see the situation is not that good. we are producing too few supplies and the situation will not improve. As soon as he'll start bombing the HI in Indochina and China, i'll go easily below 24000 supplies per day... [:o]

RE: THE HEAD OF THE SNAKE
As some of u may remember in 1941 I had already decided to sustain the efforts of the air production in terms of HIs by cutting the navy production.
We've halted completely the production of 4 CVs, 1 CVLs and 4 CVEs.
All the TKs and xAKs production has been stopped.
Same for subs (we've only produced 4 of them since the start of the war.
Only producing DDs, "E" classes and MBTs.
The idea has always been to use very carefully my navy, so to suffer less losses and be able to live with what I started with.
Also the fuel levels won't let me use much more ships anyway...

In the last 102 days tracker says we've lost 252,000 supplies and 120,000 fuel...[X(]
