Kurt: thanks for that.

3rd Sep 43

Carriers unknown

China
Japs are bombing AFs around Changsha. They are also bombing Chungking. No more attacks at Changsha.

Burma
2 days of areal combat has resulted in 89 Tojos, 9 Georges, 5 Franks lost for 9 P47s and 13 P38s. Not bad. My troops have made it to the hex south of Taung Gyi. They find that a Jap ID has moved in. We're to late. I will keep troops here to thin out his lines.

We sink an xAK at Ocean island.

About it for now

The divide by 30 rule only gives you an idea of the enemy's unadjusted assault value. I'm not so certain that you have to match that estimate, which is before modifiers and the effect of the fire phase in combat, with a close estimate of your own adjusted assault value.

And casualties are a result of firepower .. whether units retreat or not is a result of adjusted AV. It appears to me that forts and supply have some effects on firepower along with AV ...

So it is quite possible to have a huge firepower advantage but not enough adjusted AV to move the defense rearward until eventually the adjusted AV gets in one's favor. I have such a problem in Rangoon right now .. Adjusted AV is 1:2 but the IJ's superior firepower is killing off more Commonwealth than IJ lost .. eventually they will take this position.

Attention to orders

To all you dog faces, jar heads, swabbies, and fly boys. There will be a new XO in about 8 months. I expect you all to help me teach him or her how to play this wonderful game of ours. That is all.

Hey, for the first year they just sleep in your arms. Get a comfy chair by a window for those late nights, within arms length of your key board of course.

Thats awesome DOCUP! Congratulations to you and the missus! [&o] Is it the first one? [:)]

PS. Don´t listen to Zulu! [:D] My girl is 11 months now and have just started walking. She started crawling when around 6-7 months and after that they are all over the place. Y

You can´t let her out of your sight for 2 seconds or she trying to climb the bookshelf or tearing down the TV. Or eating dirt from the flowerpots. Or licking the toilet brush. Or dropping stuff in the toilet. Or banging stuff against the windows. Or climbing in the dishwasher. Or eating the newspaper. Or stealing daddy's car keys and making them disappear. Or banging the powerswitch on the PS3. Or stealing dad 300 Eure headphones and putting them in the washer. The list can continue forever! [:D]

Back from DC. Went on a small vacation with my parents, wife, and her parents. Had a great time.

11th Sept 43

Carriers unknown

China
Urumchi has fallen to the Japs. Koniu has started an air campaign that I can't stop right now. Right now is the correct phrase.

Burma
Ramree Island captured. Building up forts then the AF. Combat units are being stood down to repair disabled squads. Units are prepping for next battle locations. The 21st Jap ID is no more. Koniu will have to buy back and rebuild it from nothing.[:D] Supplies are be brought in by LSTs. Northeastern Burma things are rolling here also. We push an IR and art unit back into Lashio. My units are following. Bhamo now has an ID with 2 Inf BDEs and a small tank unit in the hex. Shock attack ordered for tomorrow. I don't know the fort level but believe there is an IR, Tank rgt, art unit and a base force. I see some of the Jap units are now heading south. I want to stop and KILL KILL KILL them all.

Solomons
During the night phase we attack 3 BBs and a CA off of Gasmata. I don't know what's going on here. I am wondering if its a bombardment attack on Buna? CAP trap? Fast transport of troops or supplies? Don't know. 2 PT boat TFs are patrolling the Buna hex and one hex outside of Buna. I have several squadrons night naval attack to eat up op points. I am thinking of sending in a small DD TF also. I am currently looking to see what I have that I can throw in during the day phase. I should have enough but haven't looked at that in detail yet.

I was right on the bombardment but wrong on the base. Goodenough Is. was the target. AF and AB is plastered by the naval bombardment. Bombers continue to add to the pain during the day time. We lose 33 planes on the ground. Ships had cloud cover during the am phase then disappeared during the pm phase. I seen ships at Gasmata during the CR, now I see ships in the harbor at Gasmata. I am ordering the port to be bombed during the day and night. Hopefully I will get something. Fighters will sweep tomorrow.

Hope you enjoyed DC. I make a point of visiting often. I'm only 50mi away. Hope you saw aerospace and maybe the Udvar, where I get a lot of the plane pictures I've taken. Anyways I'd would attack with both SAGs. In fact the way I'm feel'in I'd attack with the whole US Navy![:D]

16th Sept 43

Carriers unknown

China
Chansha bombarded again for no real damage to either side.

Burma
Fuso eats a TT east of Port Blair. It looks like there is a bombardment TF heading for either Ramree or Akyab. I think Fuso is part of this group. PTs will go down to Ramree Is. I don't expect much from them, lots of moonlight tonite. We attacked at Bhamo and got tore up. Might have to wait for a few days. I do have 2 tank units present now.

Solomons
Moving stuff around.
