I will say, you were out classed with this fight from the get go, Ketza been around way too long. He has played the game way way longer than me only because I got fed up with the slant. I enjoy reading the AAR's and tossing advice at times, but I know I have been away too long and am not current to all the changes.

But yes, like Bozo said, watch those allies on the front, they will blow away with the first good hit. Only the Mtn boys have any prayer and even then, don't count on them to perform the same as the German Mtn troops. All your allies need to be in size 3 and above towns and cities. That is the only way they have a chance at survival and even then they will not hold for long.

Don't send your airbases to Germany. Instead use them to guard the most important rail line against partisans.

this should not work, unless they are playing with some really old version

I knew I was outclassed from the begining :) But that's how you get better! [&o]

Why won't using airbases for LOC garrisons work? BTW this game is using verision 1.07.08

V1.05.28 – September 29, 2011

• New Features and Rule Changes
6) Rule Change – Partisan attacks are now allowed in hexes adjacent to combat units).

and I am pretty sure it also applies to non-combat units

But if you have a continuous line of airbases on the rail line the partisans won't be able to destroy it. Just don't leave any gaps between the airbases. Am I wrong?

I doubt you have enough airbases to guard the most important lines in a continuous fashion. Besides, by November / December the raillines should be repaired enough, so that a break in one central line won't cause any havoc.

Uh, that's extra bad for you. You guys should have played with the new patch. It really works and makes the game more interesting. I'm playing a game as SHC right now and the Soviets get nothing but crap units. Combat is more important then ever now for SHC.

That might very well be but we don't know that. After the summer of 42 it's best to disband some of these airbases anyway to get the manpower/vehicles. So shipping them back to Germany is a complete waste. I'd still use them to guard rail lines. Especially the Romanian airbases. At least that way they have a purpose.

Are you also putting fighters in the National Reserve? That might be a mistake.

Nope, I do send back the bombers for at least December, as they are useless in that month. But the fighters are kept in front. I keep around 9 airbases upfront to serve as fighter and transport bases.

Well no posts for awhile, because superficially not much going on at the front until the Soviet half of turn25 when he started his offensive in the snow weather. Was surprised how well he did on that turn with out the benefit of the first winter blizzard rule. This game is really slanted too much to the Soviets. Ketza is good but game is still too slanted. Oh well.

From Turn17 to to turn25 most of my army has been static digging in, in with infantry refit mode all other units TOE set to 50%.

I was hoping some units would be able to reach fort level 4. I added some fortified zone units to my frontline units on the Luga. After several turns it was obvious they weren't do jack to raise the level above 3(10%) so I disbanded them before they became POW's. I guess a misread

"Requirement to build up to Fort Level 4 - Must have a fort unit in the hex. Once built, the fort unit is not needed to keep the level 4 fort. Not possible in swamp hex."

I decided to keep my airforce commited and not sent back to national reserve. During the mud turns I used transports and bombers to help keep units in supply especially units that can be attacked by 3 hexes. After he started his attacks I attacked some of his ground units with my airforces that where leading his forces, but in the extended combat gui I couldn't see if any of his units where disrupted. Not sure if the effort is worth it.

During the mud pause I split my panzer units up into regiments and put them in the second line as reserves and also to strat making a second fortified line.

I pretty much tried to keep the axis allies out of the frontlines except where the can only be attacked by 1 hex and then I stiil stacked them 3 high. Otherwise the allied units where in the second line digging.

1st Panzer army feel back to defend the river bend and the gap between the bend the Sea of Azov. This allowed 11th army to take over some of the river defenses from the axis allies.

The soviets had a 1 hex bridgehead south of Kiev but I took that out on turn25. I didn't want him to start attacking across the river till the ice level reachs 10. The new weather rules means it takes an extra turn to reach level 10.

I feel I have pretty well sealed of the Crimea, Was actually hoping he would attack down here. My only worry down here is the very end of my line near the sea of Azov, feels too weak to me.

Ensured units in the most exposed positions had 3 support units preferably pioneers. And HQ's of important sectors having good artillery and good leaders.

But his attacks seem to have easily sliced thru all of this. Which I don't think I really agree with. I think if the German had halted in early October and dug in and the Soviets would have had a rougher time.

Now some snapshots.
