Manual; Available as a separate download?

Post by $trummer »

I'd be interested in downloading the manual today, i.e. before the game comes out, in order to get a running start at a steep learning curve. Does anyone know if it's available independently of purchasing the game and how many pages it contains (i.e. is it practical to print out on a home printer?) Many thanks.

The for print manual is 144 pages. I don't believe it will be available for download for free but let me ask.

Playing devil's advocate here, but why NOT make it a free download?  I'd think it would tend to act as a huge promo brochure for people thinking about buying the game, and you've already incurred the cost of production.  For that matter, sell hard bound copies separately for those that want it.  Sorta thinking like rock bands- only some of their money comes from concert tickets, but also t-shirts, posters, show CD's, etc.  More revenue is more revenue.

Well, whether acquired as a separate d/l or with the game purchase, this manual is definitely a candidate for printing but beyond the modest capabilities of my home setup. I wonder how much they would charge me at Stinko's?

Just called Fed Ex because I was curious. Beantown rates are 13 cents per page black and white. 69 cents Color.

Jeez we picked the wrong business to be in.

Got an Ipad?

So that's $18.72 for b & w, $99.36 for color.

Bloody hell!

Do you think b & w is a viable option?

No iPad here. Oh well, I'll manage. How does the game like alt-tab? Or would it be a good idea to run it windowed with the manual in another window?

Yeah you don't really need the color. Good news is this game isn't that hard to learn how to drive. 5 tutorial videos should be up tomorrow as well.

The game is a true windows app so you can alt tab.

Video tutorials! Excellent! Good news about alt-tab, too. I would think it's the kind of game that could be played in a window with absolutely no tradeoff in quality, performance or appearance.

A lot of the fuss around this game would be slapped down if the manual was available, at least on line.
Imagine, someone could cross reference the online manual as they perused a review or gulped a "RAVINGview". This is a weakness in the
dev's ability to let the game "speak for itself". Just my opinion, not an attempt at a directive.

My site http://baloogancampaign.com/ and videos might also be a good introductory resource for Command.
