ground unit recovery

Post by steverodgers801 »

in the rules it states a ground unit destroyed cannot be recalled, but in the list of destroyed units it says I can recall a destroyed unit for x points. Can I recall a destroyed unit and how if I can

Yes, you can recall destroyed units (both ground and air.) For ground units, start in the Intelligence Screen, then select Ground Units Destroyed. You'll see a list of all the units available, along with PP costs. Right-click on the name of the unit you want to rebuild, and you'll get a Yes/No decision window. This window will also tell you how long the unit will take to reappear and where it will arrive. If you decide you want the unit, simply click Yes...

Keep in mind that most CW, Indian, British units take a long time, after they appear, to get anywhere near full strength. US units don't take as long. Aussie units rebuild ok. I also as a rule, will not rebuild any Dutch units unless I an planning on defending the DEI. Once the DEI is taken by the IJA the Dutch units are unavailable anyway.[;)]

The recall was added in a Patch some time back. There is a manual addendum describing it in detail.

Be sure to spend the political points to change a unit's HQ right away when the rebuilt units hit the map. All the rebuilt units enter in the [R] command for their respective country. The cost to change them to an actual combat command is negligible when they first reform (typically under 10 PP). Give them a week or two to build up and your now looking at 35+ PP to reassign, even more if they are ARM units. Nothing more frustrating than having to spend 125 PP to change a command HQ because you forgot to do it a week earlier when the unit arrived.

Cost to change command is based on the size of the unit so it ALAWAYs makes sense to change them right away before they start drawing replacement devices and growing in size.

However, not all come in attached to restricted commands. The British almost all come in attached to Southeast Asia which is unrestricted.
