First long lance salvo at 1000 meters hit Le Triomphant

I'm surprised the torpedoes on either side had enough running time to arm!
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

Small mercies

A battle won in India by british armour. Quixote is not pushing really hard. He either is preserving forces and digging or... ? Note the destruction of Oscars on the ground. He wasn't expecting me to push and that cost him the 64th Sentai (they were flying CAP against my Blenheim attack prior to the assault)..

Air power will be very important in India. Disrupted troops really can't defend themselves...

Ground combat at Allahabad (51,26)

Allied Deliberate attack

Attacking force 2291 troops, 26 guns, 189 vehicles, Assault Value = 127

Defending force 3956 troops, 40 guns, 10 vehicles, Assault Value = 126

Allied adjusted assault: 56

Japanese adjusted defense: 11

Allied assault odds: 5 to 1 (fort level 0)

Allied forces CAPTURE Allahabad !!!

Pacific current situation

The allied buildup continues. Won't bore you with details but it is still going according the plans laid out earlier.

As far as China goes, I will only play again with stacking limits. I used them in conjunction with Dababes mod last game and found it most satisfactory. I cannot believe I did not push for it again. On ship losses, how did you lose 22? Port attack? I missed something there. Paul did a combo Pearl Manila attack on me and I only lost 5. In India be aware of the emergency reinforcement "trigger line" in your calculations there.

Quixote did not attack pearl. I lost a bunch on the first day in port, a couple after due to heavy damage (couldn't move them and they were bombed again later), a couple at sea due to heavy damage (trying to evacuate the subs with a chance) and a couple due to recent depthcharge attacks..

It adds up. I'll still have enough though + all my battlewagons are undamaged.

About to fall

Java

Under siege, Quixote moved in troops from India

Pacific

We had a tense few turns. Even though my submarines warned me of the presence of KB I refused to believe he would strike toward Norfolk Island. Right now I don't know why, perhaps I was hoping he didn't want to risk planes against the islands (non existent up till now....) CAP. This blunder cost me the Canberra, Honolulu, 3 DDs and an oiler..

The presence of KB so far south forced me to empty the surrounding ports of Sydney, Auckland and Suva.

For now the situation has stabilised. KB is retreating north to refuel and rearm (out of torpedoes)and perhaps repair system damage (hopefully). The fact that KB burned through its torpedoes makes me wonder. What if the five fleet carriers can strike against a KB without torpedoes...

The landing bonus is nearly gone and with KB now having to rearm and refuel I don't believe he is going to try another landing. My patrol lanes cover the eastern coast all the way towards Midway.

The buildup continues with infantry, base forces, USAAF fighters, heavy bombers, USMC Dive bombers and fighters moving into position... If he keeps KB around at least I'll know where it is..

These strikes were very heavily escorted. What happened here?

Or Quixote wasn't expecting a counter strike and expecting heavy CAP
Or Quixote has attached one or two light carriers to KB and was running 40% CAP

Pacific

Moving reserve Catalina's to Auckland. Going to fly in some Aviation support to Norfolk. Enough to base two squadrons there (one elite P38E squadron).. This should at least bleed air strikes against the Island a bit.

If bombardment forces are seen moving in, I'll redeploy the fighters back to Auckland..

In China he will try and cross the rivers on your flanks. The Intel is so bad for the Chinese, it's better to think about it now. Have you considered leaving a small corp or two in his rear? Possibly hidden in the woods to haunt him later. Have you bought out any air assets from the states and transferred them to the far east?

I have about 1500 AV in the rear.. Sadly

The AVG has left China. Yes I am getting bombed but the threat to India was severe so I pulled them back and China is mostly without air cover (not enough supply or decent airbases left anyway).

So far I moved in three squadrons of P39s, by now converted to P40s and three squadrons of B26 Marauders to the british sector. In total the US now has 150 fighters and 30 bombers in India.. Right now I am prioritising the Pacific (as Quixote is not pushing really hard and I have a lot of british fighters and bombers available..)

After the loss of Kienko today (my war) I look through the av left in Chungking with horror. Mostly thoroughly defeated cadres from the spring battles. The av looks impressive but it take a lot of broken corps to achieve it. I'm watching what Quiote does as he is doing it faster than Paul is to me, but roughly the same way.

Pacific

The attack on Fiji is now underway. Losses so far are 7 AKs (ouch) and an AKV, a bunch of small dutch oilers and two DMs + assorted aircraft.. I'll post more and in more detail while it develops but I wanted to share an e-mail I sent out to Quixote today

Your making very good use of your current superiority. I am learning a lot from the way you are handling the Japanese and I have no doubt you will reach the 4:1 victory point requirement somewhere in 1942. Will be interesting to watch if you can keep it until 1943.

The impact of the mersing gambit is huge. Without it you wouldn't have had the troops available to conquer Colombo and Calcutta so early in the game and you would not have been able to expand as quickly. The allies just don't have the (trained) troops available to defend in the first few months...

The way you handle armour gamewise is fine. They are cheap to buy out (I think the tanks should be more expensive, as the strategic impact in China is huge) and the soviet trigger is based on AV, not on number of tanks.

If your goal is autovictory (it seems to be) I have a suggestion:

- I'll do my very best to prevent it

- If you achieve it - congratulations! But I would still like to continue our game to see the overal impact of the battles of 1942!

What say you?

The main reason for me to ask that question is the fear of fighting an over-extended empire, hanging on to far out bases trying to reach autovictory roling into 1943.. All credit to Quixote if he makes it but it would be interesting to see what the strategy would mean for the empire in 1943..

I've got a response and I think he understands my motive. He also said it is not 1943 yet - and he is right. Every month I'll get a little bit stronger and while I have suffered casualties the only really critical sector is China.

Your making very good use of your current superiority. I am learning a lot from the way you are handling the Japanese and I have no doubt you will reach the 4:1 victory point requirement somewhere in 1942. Will be interesting to watch if you can keep it until 1943.

A valid point, but if Quixote can achieve 4:1 even without having mounted a Pearl Harbor strike, I would say he has a moral victory. IMHO the U.S. would have been willing to accept a cease-fire in early 1943 to deal with the greater threat of Nazi Germany, had there not been the universal outrage over Pearl.
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?
