Release Date - the cat is out of the bag.

The new Cold War turned hot wargame from On Target Simulations, now expanded with the Player's Edition! Choose the NATO or Soviet forces in one of many scenarios or two linked campaigns. No effort was spared to model modern warfare realistically, including armor, infantry, helicopters, air support, artillery, electronic warfare, chemical and nuclear weapons. An innovative new asynchronous turn order means that OODA loops and various effects on C3 are accurately modeled as never before.

Release Date - the cat is out of the bag.

Post by CapnDarwin »

The latest press release shows the release date as October 8th. This does assume that we don't encounter any game breaking bugs leading up to our gold build. [:)]

To be honest, we don't have a number yet. If I was a betting man (or just guessing wildly at this point), somewhere between "War Between the States" and "Harpoon Ultimate Edition-ish". As I saw on the Command forum, Matrix will show prices when the game goes live on the website for release.

Not a direct answer but a ballpark to work with. [8D]

Shame the release date is so close to the just released Command game..as those who have bought that are unlikely going to buy another purchase for awhile.

Might be true. There are a number of folks that I know are looking at Red Storm that are not naval buffs and not going in the slot we are in would delay us into Christmas or later release. I'm sure we will grab folks over the next couple of months if they really want to play our game.

Count me on that number. I already have all versions of Harpoon and before plunging into Command too soon I'll think it over, but as an old FPG player and lover, I am biting my nails out of eagerness to get a copy of this new wonder you're luring us with! [8D]

When Matrix published the list of games for the Xmas wishlist there were 5 titles on that list I knew that I'd like. Command is certainly one of them but so is RS. Having served during the period covered by RS makes it all the more interesting!

So, I'm waiting for its release and will probably hold off on Command until a little later in the year.

Tweaked the last scenario before going to bed last night.

Commander report to the TOC to get your orders.

Your forces are just west of the Main River. Here is a picture of your command in it's current deployment.

They have just captured an area vital to the division but they may take some rest and refit before you fight with them.

Your helicopter is waiting to take you to your command.

Good Luck Commander and Good Hunting with your new command.

Dismissed.

Y'all should forge some sort of partnership with the Command guys, integrating your land combat model (since theirs is so rudimentary at the moment) with their naval combat model somehow. THAT would be a monster of a game [8D]

Silly idea, but just throwing it out there [:'(]

The Command team is a good bunch of guys. I got a chance to speak briefly with Mike at Historicon a few months back and they really know their business. I think right now we both just need to get the games out and running for folks to enjoy. Then we can plot the overthrow of the gaming world with a monster game. [:D]
