Comparison to Kerbal

Post by maxstrike »

Is the spacecraft configuration and launching similar to Kerbal Space Program or is this game's mechanics entirely different?

Hello Daniel,

In SPM you open programs and, by doing that, you automatically get a group of mission components. For example, if you open the 'One crew conical capsule' program (i.e., Mercury), you get the Atlas and Redstone boosters along with the Mercury spacecraft. Then you R&D the mission components in order to improve their reliabilities and, when you think you're ready to go, you pick one of the available mission configurations and launch it.

The mission configurations are 'fixed', in the sense that you won't be able to change the mission components they use or their flight profile. However, we've provided lots of mission configurations for each program (especially for the crewed missions), so you'll always find one to suit your needs.

Cheers,
