System Specs Question

Post by Richard III »

I really want to get this Sim, ( as an old Harpoon Gamer and just IMHO it is a great deal at the price ) but I`m concerned that my 2+ year old system can run it with no disappointments.

My system Specs:

OS Name Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
Version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601
Other OS Description Not Available
OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation
System Name RICHARD-HP
System Manufacturer Hewlett-Packard
System Model p6813w
System Type x64-based PC
Processor AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 645 Processor, 3100 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
BIOS Version/Date American Megatrends Inc. 6.06, 3/22/2011
SMBIOS Version 2.6
Windows Directory C:\Windows
System Directory C:\Windows\system32
Boot Device \Device\HarddiskVolume1
Locale United States
Hardware Abstraction Layer Version = "6.1.7601.17514"
User Name Richard-HP\Richard
Time Zone Eastern Daylight Time
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 6.00 GB
Total Physical Memory 5.75 GB
Available Physical Memory 4.46 GB
Total Virtual Memory 11.5 GB
Available Virtual Memory 10.0 GB
Page File Space 5.75 GB
Page File C:\pagefile.sys
ATI Radeon HD 4200

It`s pretty bare bones setup, with few installed programs.

I`m just looking for informed opinions, but what can I expect for the larger scenarios as far as refresh rate, scrolling, battles, combat reports, and general game playability, etc. ?

I don't think you will have any issues. I don't see a video card but I don't use my NVidia I use my Intel card. I will let experts chime in but I think you have plenty of horses.

Video System
Monitor/Panel : LGD Generic PnP Monitor (1920x1080, LP173WF1-TLB5, 23.9")
Video Adapter : Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 (16CU 128SP SM5.0 350MHz/1.15GHz, 2GB DDR3 1.6GHz 128-bit, Integrated Graphics)

Graphics Processor
OpenCL GP Processor : Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 (128SP 16C 350MHz/1.15GHz, 1.6GB DDR3 1.6GHz 128-bit, Integrated Graphics)
OpenCL GP Processor : NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M (384SP 2C 745MHz/405MHz 83% OC, 256kB L2, 2GB 4GHz 128-bit)
Compute Shader Processor : Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 (128SP 16C 350MHz/1.15GHz, 2GB DDR3 1.6GHz 128-bit, Integrated Graphics)
Compute Shader Processor : NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M (384SP 2C 745MHz/405MHz 83% OC, 256kB L2, 2GB 4GHz 128-bit)
CUDA GP Processor : NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M (384SP 2C 745MHz/405MHz 83% OC, 256kB L2, 2GB 4GHz 128-bit)

I'm guessing that this game is much more CPU than GPU intensive, would that be true?

I would say so for sure. I can run it without my GPU and just my internal Intel....either the Intel chips are getting better or the sim doesn't need it.

He just uses the integrated HD4000 graphics chip of his Ivy-Bridge CPU. Very workable solution for a cool & quiet system if one doesn't need high raw GPU horsepower.
