One BIG group?

Post by Krasny »

How do I get a strike that consists of one big group?

Rather foolishly I created a mission to strike three radars. Into this mission I assigned all of my available ground attack aircraft. Instead of attacking the targets in one group they split into three groups, each flying to the target as soon as the mini-group had formed, thus ruining my plan of overwhelming enemy air defence.

In short I don't mind the AI splitting assigned aircraft into smaller groups, but I wanted the smaller groups to attack at the same time.

How can I achieve this goal?

I just select the Airfield, click the Aircraft button to get the list of a/c there, and Ctrl-click each aircraft I want to launch as a Group. Then select "Launch as Group" button at the bottom.

Once this group is all airborne, and loitering over the airfield with no orders, you can then create the mission in the Mission Editor and add these already-airborne aircraft. It may split up the Group you just manually created, but they will all be in the same general vicinity when they head out.

The Mission Editor needs a "Move As Group" option.
