You being newbie I'd suggest a less complex scenario; e.g. Korea is a good one, so is Crusader '41.

Also,as one of the main designers, I have to tell you that the effects of the famous 3.4 patch greatly enhance defender's capabilities. My current opponent Ed is demonstrating that a good player can overcome this, but the scenario no longer plays as I intended: larger Allied nations like the French and Soviets can put up a far stronger defence than historically - you won't see any blitzkrieg. If you do decide to give this a try as a newbie I strongly recommend that you play as the Allies. An experienced Axis player will still be able to give you a good game. Sorry about that, I understand that other players have found a similar effect with a lot of pre-patch (i.e. the vast majority) scenarios. [:@]

Aw, yes I am leading the Axis against Menschenfresser,we have covered 50 turns or so, first Yugoslavia and then Greece has finally fallen, the panzers are on Paris outskirts and a hex from getting there, but the French line is complete and hard to move, most of the combat there ends in heavy losses for the attacking force. I'd say it's the same in the east Front even though it was designed for 3.4.
