ASuW Typhoons would not attack Corvette

Post by $trummer »

In the UK vs. Argentina scenario "Stand Up", I tried every way I could to get a pair of Typhoons with Paveways and cannon to attack a very well lit-up enemy surface vessel, the corvette ARA Spiro. No dice. They approached the target then loitered, flying tight circles (not realistic holding patterns at that speed). Paveways are supposed to be able to hit moving ships. I tried both auto and manual attack modes and even fiddled with a Typhoon's altitude to try to get it to engage with cannon. Nothing.

Can anyone explain this?

Also, I am finding it very difficult to get aircraft to disengage when "Engaged offensive", using "U". I understand why they would not disengage when engaged defensive but the sim seems a little glitchy when it comes to getting attacking a/c to switch tasks, whether engaged offensive or headed to a tanker.

All assistance greatly appreciated.

Perhaps the aircraft was too high? Check the database for the GBU weapon release altitude band. The aircraft altitude can be changed manually via the F2 key.

Pretty sure I manually ordered the Typhoons to get within the right parameters but I will try again.

Weird, I have just tried the scenario, in the capture you can see as the Typhoon attacked Spiro with Paveways, they failed... the attack was launched with F1 (auto.

I don't think the Typhoons are effective against the surface targets in this mission yet. I might try different manual flight profiles but the Typhoons' behavior strikes me as a glitch.
