Massive air bombardments. I'm not much a fan of arty as it increases the CHI exp too fast. But, I would have pretty much the entire IJA bomber force there, all sally's. 6-8K ft level. Plan to DA every 7 - 10 days. Get more fresh troops there to rotate a bit. Be sure you have your command HQ in range and prepped. Get all your corp HQ's in hex and prepped to have all the support troops you can available. 3 months ...

Yup - I'm thinking I need to build my prep value up to 100% (currently in the mid 50s) and see if I can cycle leaders with a higher value into the HQ units.

I was thinking more arty too - as suggested by Chickenboy - along with air bombing. How much will the Chinese units go up in EXP against arty attacks - any clue?

Does anyone have a good solution for increasing supplies in the region of Chungking? I've run over 150,000 tons of supplies up the river and that seemed to help a bit with some of the bases that were running red/yellow !s. Air transport is such a royal pain and doesn't seem to help much... Unfortunately my working knowledge of supplies in this game is very much trial and error with heavy emphasis on the error part.

I'm kinda afraid to run just armor\engineers at Chungking. It looks too much like a good way to lose my armor units and trash my engineers.

What do you use as indicators of low supplies? I pretty much bomb like a mofo until I see the enemy units taking lotsa casualties.

Granted this experience was against the AI, but I think the situation is similar to what you have here. The defenders completely cut off, no supply except what's in the hex, etc. I had hundreds (400 or so eventually) of 2E bombers set at 8k altitude bombing every. single. day. It used a crapload of supply. I had to clear out Manchukuo of bombers entirely, and almost all of the air support. I only had to reduce the forts from their starting level 6, but it still took 2-4 months, during which time I attacked a dozen or two dozen times, each time waiting until my divisions had recuperated enough to rebuild their parts... I moved the CEA HQ to Kweiyang to help with supplies as much as possible.

On the plus side, I ended up with immense numbers of GrdB veterans.

Yeah - I'll be doing something similar but it'll take me a few to ramp up air groups in this area as I'm heavily invested in a Burma campaign at the moment.

Thanks for the share and thoughts.

A lot of sub sightings and duds this turn from Steve. He also bombards Wewak with 3 cruisers and a pair of DD.

My air ops are the same as usual – targets in Burma/China/DEI.

I move another division to Pegu and Moulmein. I’m pushing troops from Rahaeng down to get after those three Chinese Corps Steve has parked near Moulmein.

Orders for the 30th include an attack at Tavoy. I’m also getting the 65th Brigade ready for Java.

Sent a turn off last night.

Hey - does anyone have favorite locations around the map for raiding convoys? I'm thinking a 2CL & 2DD raider TF with an oiler to work for refueling...

1. Tavoy falls to another deliberate attack. Should I put 4 houses on Tavoy or should I buy a hotel?

2. Sweep of Eniwetok shows no enemy fighters.

3. A Steve sub encountered my Amphib TF. It got a good enough look at the ship types for Steve 2 be able to figure it out (I hate to admit it and 4 sure don't tell him but... He is kind of a bright guy for a transplant-Minnesotan). Someday you should ask him why he left California for Minnesota - shudder. It's a sad-sad story. Something about too much time at sea under water so he wanted to go far-far inland... The the state with a thousand lakes... I'm telling you - it's a sad story. Anyways - I digress... He’ll at least know what it is but maybe not what it’s for… Naw, I’m sure Steve’ll know. Question is what’ll he do about it. Sorty his carriers?

4. Some sub activity – normal stuff. Steve is ex-submariner so he likes this stuff.

5. I spank allied troops @ Rangoon from the air.

6. I spank Soerabaja.

7. I spank Chungking.

8. Steve sends more 4E to Rangoon. I increased my CAP last turn. I shot down a few and damaged a lot of ‘em and they did next to no damage to Rangoon.

9. Steve flies some 4E @ Roi-Namur. I had 16 A6M2 in the air and 20 on Standby VS 3 Liberators. Steve loses 1 and the other two fly home wounded. I have 10 A6M2 in the shop… I hate 4E…

Stack near Pegu went from 13 this turn to 40 this turn... and they show the tit pointed @ Pegu which means they are marching... This'll probably be all those Chinese that came over the mountains to see what they could see. Will they see victory or will they see death? Inquiring minds want to know!

I've got the turn and am working it.

I feel good anytime I lose less fighters than they lose 4E's. Until George that is.

Try the hex row due west of Perth towards map edge in the IO. Convoys coming direct to Perth will ply this path-makes for nice ambush opportunities-particularly if you haven't used it before. [8D]

George still needs experienced fighters... Still - I hear you. No armor for the fighters yet.

Make it sufficiently distant from Perth that his air search doesn't pick you up. It's worth the price of admission to see the surprise on their faces. [:)]

Read through the whole thing in one sitting. Very interesting as a Japanese player also (no HR in 9/42), thanks :). Now off to Bullwinkle's AAR [:D] ->

EDIT: I'm sure he's feeling the pain of losing those 3 CV's..

So I attacked Eniwetok with a full division of INF and a regiment of Engineers (48AV). Over two days the Engineer unit was destroyed and the Division you can see in the picture...
