Events confusion

Post by jomni »

Ok. I made an event where some planes are supposed to launch and attack the TF when the TF enters an area. But some things are happening while playing the actual scenario.

1) When TF enters the area, the message that the event is triggered keeps displaying every second.
2) The planes launch but just loiter. They can't find the TF.

1) Did you sent the event as repeatable. If so turn off.

2) Do the planes actually see the target and are in range?

Feel free post the scenario if you want me to take a look.

1) yes. Will turn that off.
2) I'm observing. Targets are yellow. But some have turned red already but still they are loitering. Does everybody in the target list need to be red?

2) Depends on your mission parameters. Jump into mission editor, select the mission and take a look at parameters at the bottom. If Mission triggers when contact is at minimum unknown is set it will launch with that or its its set to hostile it will launch then.

Couple of key things to know.

The target must be seen. So either its autodetected (a unit property) or you have a sensor that has eyes on.

If you're using god's eye view keep in mind that is allowing you to see things, not your units.

You can set general targets with this mission. So instead of specifying the exact target you can just create the mission and it will launch with the first contact that meets the strike parameter.

Set to unknown bit they just launch and loiter. That means they don't see the ships for some reason. I'm playing their side to observe with fog of war. The ships are seen my the side. But does that mean the ships should be seen by the specific platform instead of just the side?
So I will change the mission to area patrol so at least they fly to the hot zone to get a better view of the ships. .

They launch because they do see it but what's the range like and do they have the proper munitions for an antishipping strike?

F18 with harpoon. I will post screen shot and send over the mission when I get the chance. Thanks.

Something strange. I updated to beta and now my F18 ready countdown reset from 0 to 10 hours when the event is triggered.

Edit: look again. They flew but immediately landed saying mission over (RTB).

Thanks for the reply. The simplest solutions are the best.
Never realized that a strike will be launched at targets even if nothing specific assigned as long as they are detected and under the desired level of identification.
