My thoughts on the game

Post by viperdave »

First of all. I have bought many matrix games some of them work and some don't. Ok that said here I go. I have played this about 7 hours over several days and the game stops working all THE TIME. My question to the programmers:
Who do you get to test this game and what is your sample size. Because either the people who tested your game did not tell you that that game stops working or you went ahead and sold the game knowing that it will stop running.
It is not just my machine. i have a quad core with nevida video driver. i have watch the video of the review you posted and the program stopped working for him ( 8 out of 8 guy). I have watch the video of the guy doing the live demos and it stopped working with him. ( the video where he tried to shot down the sat. just before that the program stopped responding). Also many of the people on the forums are having problems and they say just use the auto save file__ REALLY you have the rely on auto save to play the game. Here are just a few examples for me:
first tutorial is stop running.
I use the editor a lot to play the game my basic set up is one side will have the pre-set bases in California and one side will have the pre=set bases in Nevada. i like using the editor because i can play both sides and add aircraft to the situation.
i have two f-15 and 4 f-4s and one patriot battery some times when there are missiles in the air it stops working.
one time i had a side with an ICBM and launch it against a base in California once the missile hit i got a lot of damage report on the screen and the game stopped working. The next day i ran the same thing but with 5 ICBM against the California bases and it worked fine.

Another time i had 10 b-52s and about 6 fighter and they launched there missiles and it stopped working.
These are just a few examples. I REALLY REALLY REALLY WANT THIS PROGRAM TO WORK but for me it just does not work.
i have not run the beta. I figured once it works you will then release it where i can use your automatic update feature. Because right now it says i have the current program. I will probably play this some more unitil i get frustrated with it (just like harpoon, i got that program when it first came out on my mac then on my 486 - 33 ibm whow what a machine) and then this game will just sit on my computer and not be used.
well that's it.
Frustrated buyer.

I have had only one crash in probably 50 games. Picked up from auto save immediately. I have also had command running continuously for 48 hours without an error.

Sample size of 1.

I on the contrary had a lot of crashes. But not too bothered as the auto save seems to be reliable.

Dave sorry you seem to be having these issues.

We'll be releasing an update and patch in the next couple days which we hope resolves the most common issues.

If you could please make sure that windows and your drivers are updated and you may want to try reinstalling the prerequisites.

Well up to you. I play my edited missions outside editor mode. Hope they get a fix out because it does get annoying.

FWIW, I have about 10 hours in the game and have not had a single crash or freeze. Been extremely stable for me.

I've gone a good long time without an actual system crash now. I used to get a couple, few a night. Now, nadda. For what this game is doing, I'd say that's pretty remarkable.

Hi guys,

we have over 600 tester in the test group which is the largest Matrix has ever done. The problem with PC's is there are literally thousands or millions of combinations of hardware and software and you can;t test everything. I understand the frustration when it happens to you and we'll do everything we can to get it fixed ASAP. A game as complex as this is going to have issues so if you can just bear with the team as they work through them that would be great. Thanks for your patience.

It would also be worth doing some checks on your machine as in general our games are very stable and if you are regularly having issues it could be some sort of hardware or software failure on your PC. Main stream games tend to use the graphics card and not much else while our games push all parts of the CPU and RAM to the limits because of the complexity of the game models and AI. This mean you often get problems show up that don't appear on main stream titles with lots of visuals but not much in terms of model.

I know this is no consolation when it happens and its no excuse but I just wanted to let you know how hard we work to minimize these issues. It is not just throw out there. There are thousands or tens of thousands of testing man hours in the game.
