Scenarios

The new Cold War turned hot wargame from On Target Simulations, now expanded with the Player's Edition! Choose the NATO or Soviet forces in one of many scenarios or two linked campaigns. No effort was spared to model modern warfare realistically, including armor, infantry, helicopters, air support, artillery, electronic warfare, chemical and nuclear weapons. An innovative new asynchronous turn order means that OODA loops and various effects on C3 are accurately modeled as never before.

Question about Time To Dance, are the bridges hard coded in the scenario to start as blown? Or is that a random event? My game has them all blown at start. I'd rather they not be, i.e. let me blow them. All those nice NATO minefields and obstacles along the border area need fires on them and the starting force is not enough, I want to move some of the arriving reinforcements over the river.

None were blown in my first try of A Time to Dance....

but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out & proclaiming "WOW, what a ride!"

Which version are you playing? That sounds like you are playing the scenario as the Soviet player.

In the version where you are the NATO player no bridges are blown.

Good Hunting.

None of the bridges in A Time to Dance are blown at start. They are all good ordered standing bridges. You have to blow them yourself.

BTW, in all scenarios, the designer places the bridges on the map (He can place even place them blown at start if he wishes). If there is no bridge symbol on the map, then there is not a bridge there. There are two symbols for bridges, blown and good ordered. If there is no bridge symbol where a road crosses a river, there is no bridge (blown or good ordered).

Are you confusing the bridge symbol as a blown bridge?

Nothing is wrong. He's opened the Soviet version of the scenario to play. The bridges in the version where you are the Soviets has the bridges blown at the start.

Something is strange then, I'm Nato and the Bridges are blown. Let me do a screen shot.

I get it now. The scenario itself comes in two flavors, I missed that. So even though I chose NATO as my side, the scenario I choose was wrong for that side pick. I missed that. Thanks.

For you to have seen any NATO units you would have had to left open the ability to see all enemy units in the options page when you selected the WP version of the scenario.

There are full briefings for both players in all the scenarios. However, the briefing you got was one for the Soviet player. You didn't notice it because you had already read it once and didn't need to see that again.

Good Hunting.

Nope, I checked that. I picked NATO as my side in the scenario designed for the Soviet player. So I still had the ability to set up NATO and give them orders. I even played the first execution phase as NATO, Try it.

I did and you are correct. The game can be opened and played from either side. The briefing has a Best Played: recommendation but in this case it even says that NATO is the preferred player. I've just changed that typo.

Thanks for the catch.

The scenarios/campaigns, excluding the British scenarios, have all been reworked and have been put into the new release.

The British weren't quite ready so they do not have their reworked versions in this release.

The next release will have new scenario/campaign content in it.

It has come to my attention that the scenarios were too easy to beat so I fixed that. [:D]

Actually, there was an issue with the way the scoring was taking place that I wanted to be better at games end.

There were a couple of scenarios that had small changes made to OOB's as well.

Nothing major. Just a touch up.

Now, to get more content to you guys by the end of the year.

Templer, the Mid-east is on our long range plans if things go well (sales, team stays together long enough, enough player interest, etc.). [8D]
OTS is looking forward to Southern Storm getting released!

I thought Rob was working on that 9 years ago when FP:Germany was finished. I even went out and picked up several books on the subject but then ended going over to another game and begin testing on it.
