Feature Request: Make Reference Points side specific

Post by Temple »

This isn't a high priority feature request, but it is something that bugs me. When I start a scenario, like First Contact 1973 as the Norwegians, and I see four reference points that aren't mine, I figure that they are probably being used by the other side. I then tend, consciously and unconsciously, to alter my plans to take that box into consideration.

What I'd like to see is reference points set up as side specific, so if they aren't mine, I don't see them. Again, not a big deal, but maybe worth considering.

They are side-specific. What you're seeing are RPs placed for the Norwegian side by the scenario author, probably for use in Norwegian missions if you were playing the Soviet side.

RPs are side specific. The issue in this case is that the scenario is playable from both sides, and the reference points are used for a mission to control Norwegian AI if you play the Soviets. When you play Norwegians the Mission is scrubbed but the RPs remain.

It's also discussed in this thread:

I guess I should have made myself clearer. What I meant was that if those RPs aren't being used by my currently selected, active side, they should not be visible to me. However, I do see your point (no pun intended) about them being there for use by the AI. I decided the best way to address this is to delete all RPs right at the beginning if I didn't place them and if they are not needed by me later on.

I will typically select all the RPs on the globe when the game starts and use the Universal Erase All RPs option on the Mission/RP menu.

Um - can we make this an OPTION? I sometimes use RPs from the Neutral side as trigger zones for Red or Blue to enter and set off an event, like a special message. Not all of us think it needs to be fixed. [:D]

I sometimes copy what baloogan did in marking the range of enemy aircraft using a rp.
