Infantry assulting in vehicles

The new Cold War turned hot wargame from On Target Simulations, now expanded with the Player's Edition! Choose the NATO or Soviet forces in one of many scenarios or two linked campaigns. No effort was spared to model modern warfare realistically, including armor, infantry, helicopters, air support, artillery, electronic warfare, chemical and nuclear weapons. An innovative new asynchronous turn order means that OODA loops and various effects on C3 are accurately modeled as never before.

Infantry assulting in vehicles

Post by PKH »

It seems infantry will always enter their vehicles to move, even to assault a neighboring hex. I think they should disembark 1 to 2 hexes before the assault target, and move on foot together with the vehicles the last bit.

Another thing which would be nice is to be able to set different actions per waypoint. F.ex. move-hasty to a hex as waypoint 1, and blow the bridge as waypoint 2.

If you issue an Assault order you should get a dialog box when you okay the order that asks how many hexes before the last waypoint should they dismount. If this is the AI doing that let us know. May be a buggy AI function that we can fix.

The expanded and advanced orders per waypoint is already in the improvements trade space for being worked on and it appears to be a highly requested feature. We'll keep everyone posted on it.
OTS is looking forward to Southern Storm getting released!

When doing either a deliberate or assault move the infantry can move on foot if you choose. You will get a prompt that asks how far from the objective you want your vehicles to separate, if at all.

Good Hunting.

I misunderstood what the assault dialog meant. It makes sense to me now.
