Awesome game

The new Cold War turned hot wargame from On Target Simulations, now expanded with the Player's Edition! Choose the NATO or Soviet forces in one of many scenarios or two linked campaigns. No effort was spared to model modern warfare realistically, including armor, infantry, helicopters, air support, artillery, electronic warfare, chemical and nuclear weapons. An innovative new asynchronous turn order means that OODA loops and various effects on C3 are accurately modeled as never before.

Awesome game

Post by MrLongleg »

Just played the Tutorial for the 2nd time - totally awesome game. It is great fun to see 40 T-80 get stuck in minefields deployed by artillery and then convert them into a smoking pile of steel skeletons. This might be the best game I bought in a long time. Great job ! Can't wait to start my first PBEM...

Yes, the game is GREAT !

When I realized this was the sequel of FPG, I immediately purchased it and I certainly won't regret. I already loved FPG, its ancestor, but now we have a very well polished game. Pure pleasure ! And the WEGO engine is amazing !

Last but not least the game seems ready for mods and evolution:
Just waiting for 21st century WW3 extensions. Like War in the golf, war on terror, NATO vs.Iran+Russia campaign, etc.

Let's dream: naval off map platforms for coastal theaters and more forces/theaters (like French, Italy, Iran, etc.) will make it even more perfect (BTW it already is !).

Congratulations to the devs, you've got a winner here.

I've just finished playing the tutorial mission for the first time. It was a bit bewildering at the start and I spent most of my time just clicking 'Go' and watching the action unfold but now I'm off to read the manual and find out what was going on and what I could have done better. I'm sure I can come up with a better plan that the one outlined by the PDF ;) I might even hold a VPO at the end of the mission as well.

I'll have to take a look at the scenario editor for this baby as well. It looks like there's a lot of fun to be had making campaigns. Right up my street. :D But first, learn to play.

Hi Wodin

My first priority is to learn the game thoroughly. Then I'll start dabbling with the editor. [;)] I've already got an idea or two up my sleeve but it's possible that the Mad Russian has already done it. I'm going to enjoy finding out.

I gave the Tutorial a second run-through this evening using the Limited Staff rule and slaughtered the poor Russian player this time. Tomorrow, I'll start playing regular missions.

It's nice that another of the CM scenario/campaign designers has come to take a look at FPC:RS.

There's plenty of action to go around and I tried to create enough maps to give scenario designers a good choice of terrain to play with.

As we do patches, etc. there will be more content released. That will include maps, scenarios and campaigns.

Once you get your feet wet if you have any questions I'll be happy to answer any questions.

Good Hunting.

You can count me as a future customer, quite possibly tomorrow evening.
